Unfortunately the video capabilities of most Nex cameras are on pair with cheap sports cameras you get today. With f/8 you also throw away all the advantages you would get from light gathering.

@@quikee9195 cheap action cameras are significantly worse, i used to have an NEX-5 and with a wide angle lens (sigma 16mm f1.4) it took great video, my cheap action camera isnt nearly wide enough for sports video and they often get terrible battery and have worse video quality

​@@timeitcorrectly4450 I had Nex-5r and Nex-3 and what you get is 1080p with line skipping at best, which is just horrible for today's standard. OK, you may not get a random cheap action camera, but with a little research you can find a decent one for a reasonable price. I have the Xiaomi Yi 4k (for a couple of years now), which you can get for less than $150 new today (and even less for a used one), which has way better video quality and not even a $400 lens would help the Nex in this situation.

If I remember correctly, it's around 1.1x or 1.2x crop to eliminate the black

thats actually part of the purpose of some of these lenses

I think EFS 10-18mm from Canon is much better overall

Fuji also have the xm fl 23 f8 if you haven't got it already

I could see it being useful for someone on a trip where outdoor landscapes aren't the focus but they still would like the option without taking up a lot of space in their bag. I'm mildly curious how a camera with IBIS would do with this for video work, like for those drivers making videos that want more quality than a dashcam provides.

Yes you can. I use this lens on a fullframe in Clubs(eh, dark corners anyways) . I figured out the best distance setting and made a white dot there, but on some pictures it's obvious that sharpness isn't as good as the lens can do and the background is in focus. I just found out if I defish it using the Samyang 7.5mm Profile, it stretches all over the frame. So. In some sense it's almost kinda fullframe. I wish they made a 8, or , or 10,11,12,13 mm fullframe of almost the same size,even if it was f11 or 14 Very happy with it, still getting a proper one. But a fisheye:) turns out it's better for people than rectalinear

You are probably going to have to make a custom profile in Lightroom. Carefully apply counter green white balance with the brush tool. On my a7s there's nothing. On my a7r there's yellow and red color cast.

Almost all camera manufacturers are Japanese, but Canon is partly US part Japanese. Might have something to do with the by now completely impossible to follow sanctions on China
