She was the reason why Beauty and The Beast stayed on Broadway after 2003. They were considering closing but they went for a younger and known Disney star to reboot it and she did a wonderful job!! This isn't her best but i saw her on bway and she was phenomenal!

She was also 19, damaging her beautiful voice, and still sounds great here!

Last year, she opened up about how challenging it was to be the lead in a Broadway show at only 19 years of age and she was being highly criticized for her youth. While she was living in New York, she was spending a lot of her time drinking at nightclubs and other stuff like that outside of her job. She had already gone through some difficult times during her late teen years. All of these problems lead to her having depression and doing self-harm. Thankfully, she got better and doesn't drink at all anymore.

I can totally see her voicing a Disney Princess in a Disney Animation Princess Movie. She’s got the chops for it! I’m getting Rapunzel vibes when I hear her sing. She definitely would have been able to pull that off beautifully!

I remember watching her at Broadway's Beauty and the Beast in 8th grade. I thought her performance was amazing in her Belle outfit. But that was 15 years ago, at my first Broadway show. I was also hyped about seeing a star from Even Steven. haha I'm so lame.

Does anyone know what key she sings this in? She seems lower then some of the other Belles and it gives me hope that one day I can be Belle in a local theater production.
@ania50382 ай бұрын
I think it's the same as everyone else because it goes up a key halfway through the song.

Dylan Harris jeez what type of vocal class are you taking? Lifting your chin like that causes strain and is a sign of unhealthy singing and lack of technique.

Her word sounds a lot higher here than it naturally is. Her diction is weird here, too. It makes her sound really young. Was she sick? I'd be willing to bet she was.

The show wasn't doing too hot at this point, so they did the classic last ditch effort of putting popular culture stars in broadway roles. Sometimes it works very wel- Anneliese Van Der Pol was BRILLIANT as Belle, Keke Palmer was kickass in Cinderella. Even Vanessa Hudgens was a good Gigi, improving her voice after the whole Rent thing. Sometimes it super doesn't work, such as this home girl as Belle and Carley Rae Jepson as Cinderella.

she really looks like a real life Belle though

Like I said in other replies, playing the lead in a show like this at only 19 years of age was very challenging for her and people were highly criticizing her because of her youth. She opened up about it last year. Prior to getting this part, she had already gone through depression. Because of that and all of the work she was doing in the show, she would drink at nightclubs and do self-harm in her apartment. She thankfully got better after getting some help.

She seems like a truly kind person. The kind that stardom likes to rip to shreds. She has a YT channel where she’s very transparent about her career. She definitely has the voice for the role.
@mermer31682 жыл бұрын
Except she was already in Broadway years before this role, and before her role in Disney. What people don't realize is that most actors and actresses start out in music and theatre. It kind of ties together. Most people that don't make record deals or want to stay in Broadway usually go into acting.

I think she did pretty well overall, it's a hard song to sing for sure. That being said, I too covered it, and would really appreciate anyone giving mine a watch! :)

For the same reason they put Nick Jonas in the Les Miserables 25th Anniversary concert. Both are fine singers...until you have them on the same stage as seasoned theater performers. Then you realize how hollow they sound.

Her voice is definitely not average but it definitely could have improved from this performance. The ending fell flat and her vibrato almost made her lose her pitch at times but overall this is one of the better versions I've heard of this song.
