Despite chrollo being one of my fav characters in hxh, i have to admit that Bookmark chrollo is a straight up OP character with 0 ways to counter him, the only thing that made chrollo "balanced" was the limitation of having to hold the book at all times which cripples his hand to hand combat overall cuz as we know, he's very strong and incredibly fast so him being a good fighter + a large arsenal of nen abilities created an urgent need for a limitation to make him balanced. But now with bookmark, not only he's free to use his hands during the usage of the abilities, he can use 2 stolen abilities at the same time while fighting hand to hand. Im very aware that with specialists, Nen rules mean little to nothing x) and thats... owwkay due to the low number of them but there was a beauty to him pre bookmark, Stealing abilities is an OP skill no matter the manga and seeing him work his way out of his previous hard limitations made chrollo for me more enjoyable to watch, it really highlighted his intelligence which was praised on multiple occasions, but now im like : "the amount of combinations and combos he can make with bookmark is unbeilevable and there is no drawbacks to this", for me he turned from "very intelligent dude who alternates strategically between hand to hand and usage of hatsu midst fights" to a sort of spammer of nen abilities with no repercussions, dont get me wrong, he's still damn fun to watch but it had to be said, we love certain characters BECAUSE they managed to be strong despite hard limitations and weaknesses.

I think I figured out chrollos condition for using bookmark: double face. During his fight with Hisoka, he kept asking Hisoka if he wanted to continue( after explaining bookmark and after they both consented to a deathmatch). I bet he has to explain his ability and give his foe a chance to walk away from the fight. Is the perfect restriction for a broken ability like using two stolen powers at once.

One of the most complex characters in anime. Chrollo is a leader of a criminal organization in which he steers with no particular personal purpose. He's very composed, very much cold and emotionless, he never invests emotions in business, but when one of his friends dies he could not hold his tears, such as in this scene! It's important to note in this scene that he cried with a straight face, indicating that although he has a cold demeanor, he could not suppress his agony. Chrollo is very strong, arguably one of the strongest in the anime, he is a merciless crime mastermind yet he's so calm and always wearing a smile. To summarize, Chrollo is an anti-social who steers in life vaguely towards no marked direction, he's suffering from a crisis of identity and his criminal endeavors are his way of finding himself.

The thing about him not fearing death was only because he knew he wasn't going to die in that moment because of the predictions. We have yet to see him face extreme situations, every time his life was "in danger" he had a foolproof plan to win and survive. Until we see him lose a fight, not have back up plans and with a deadly attack coming to him and he stills keeps calm, I won''t believe he doesn't fear death.

As complicated as Nen can be, Id be interested to see exactly how the stealing part of his skill works. Stealing from someone like Neon who unconsciously used her ability and had no idea how it worked is one thing. However, against someone like Ging who has mastered Nen to a point he can witness an ability once and improve on it, its hard to think Ging would just forget how his ability works, or not be able to create a different version of an ability using the same concept.

Chrollo is like the protagonist of an RPG. Amassing followers, collecting rare objects, killing enemies, levelling up and gaining new skills. Complete with the roaming high level boss Kurapika and the backstabber twist in the storyline. Seems pretty fun if you ask me.

I don't care what anyone says... I think Hisoka is the biggest brain character in this show. He's the perfect character model. Can't get enough of that bungee gum that has the properties of both rubber and gum.

i honestly think it was the other way around, chrollo chasing silva and fighting him to revenge the troupe member silva killed is the more logical and plausible reasoning for their fight in meteor city, that would also explain silva's bandages on his arm, might've been the wounds he received from his previous fight with what was most likely number 8 which shizuku replaced, also you forgot to mention how chrollo although a specialist is ranking high in physical strength among his troupe even above an enhancer and 2 conjurers and a fellow specialist. love your channel, keep it up

To me the main reason why hunter x hunter is still soo popular and ppl still waiting patiently for the future of it is because, it's like multiple stories in one unlike most anime that just have I main protagonist and main story, this anime has many protagonists, with different goals and stories we want to see the conclusion of, we want to see the future of gon a killua, Ging, hisoka, PHANTOM troupe, the king assention successor etc.

It's not the same thing as nobody writes Yu * Yu * Hakusho. If it's writen Hunter X Hunter in a language in wich the X isn't silent, than it's to be pronounced. The japanese title isn't always the oficial title elsewhere, and if we are using english titles, as it's the more usual to happen, than english pronounce should be used. It's kinda crazy, maybe, but it's what makes sense. In Brazil, Saint Seya was titled Cavaleiros do Zodiaco, wich translates to Knights of the Zodiac or something like that. I can't write Knights of the Zodiac and say it's pronounced Saint Seya. Attack on Titan is a name that makes no Sense, and should probably be something as Attack Titan. But if we write Attack on Titan, it's said attack on titan! On the same vibe, we won't say Uzumaki Naruto if what's writen is Naruto Uzumaki. We will say in the order it's written, no matter what the "right" name is. Even Hunter X Hunter, as would be called by japaneses, sounds more like Hunta Hunta.. But we will not say it like that. And i can't think of any examples, but if we got some anime named 2x2, will we call it twotwo? Also, i'm not sure its a multiplication symbol... but you probably know best. I always imagined it as a Versus symbol, as at least in Brazil it's a common use of the X, i tought it was the same around the world. Hunter Versus Hunter makes senses to me, while Hunter times Hunter i don't know whats suposed to mean. And just to add to Brazilian portuguese trivia while still defending that as written the X isn't silent. In Brazil it's usual to translate words on characters names. Superman becomes Super Homem, Spiderman is Homem Aranha, and so on... But Batman is never translated, wich makes no sense. It's even common that they "repeat the name" like "Batman, o Homem Morcego" wich would translate to Batman, the bat man. But even it being insane, we would not read it in any other way. If it's written Super Homem I would not say to anybody that the right way to say it is Superman.

I believe you are mistaken about 1 of the requirements for Chrollo to steal a Nen ability. @ 4:12 you say he needs to "ask" a question about the ability and have the user answer it. I do believe he actually needs to learn how the ability works, which would normally require him to ask the nen user a question but obviously the question has to be about how the ability works not just any question about the ability. This could be seen when the Troupe captures the Shadow Beast that has the shrinking cloak ability, he was most likely tortured and forced to reveal how his ability works. The "naive" girl with the Fortune telling ability casually reveals how her ability works through a conversation with Chrollo, after he asks several questions regarding the ability. This is a bit different from Ging's Nen ability, which hasnt been revealed at this moment but is shown to give him the ability to copy other people's "physical" nen abilities, as shown when he uses Leorios "teleporting" punch ability and later explains how hes able to use it also.
