Can you use a calligraphy dip pen for chromatography even if its not what you mainly use the ink with ? I’d like to start doing chromatography and cataloguing my vast ink collection but don’t really know where to start

Yep! It doesn’t really matter what you use to get the ink on the chroma strip. I just usually use the pen because I’ve generally got the ink in there already.

Is it just me or does this look like Lamy black and Lamy turquoise was just mixed together for petrol from the test?

Pardon what might be a simple question but why do people chromatograph fountain pen inks?

To see what’s in there! Curiosity, mainly. It can also show when inks are identical to one another sometimes.
