Thanks for trying so many methods to share with us :) I don’t drink coffee so I just bought the chromatography strips. I’ve only tried it with wet ink, but next time I would love to try it dry to see the difference

Hi! New subbie and started my pen journey since April but want to explore inks more before accumulating too many pens. How do we order one of your custom ink holders? My photo is my first try at swatches about two weeks ago. I’m in search of amazing inks but focusing on shading inks for now. I heard that shimmery inks can damage the feeding system of nib so I don’t want my more expensive pens to get ruined since I am still brand new in my pen journey. I decided to document my pen journey today…Thanks for the videos and inspiration!

Welcome to the hobby! Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying the content! As far as pens and Inks, it's brilliant of you to pace yourself in not accumulating too many pens early on! Shading and Sheening are good Inks to start with most definitely. I'm not sure I could say shimmering Inks could damage your feed (especially permanently), but they can certainly clog the system and cause a good deal of frustration in addition to being high maintenance with the cleaning you'll have to endure to the nib and feed. When you reach the time to try them out many choose to have a designated tester pen (something affordable like a Pilot Kakuno or something similar) or enjoy with a dip pen and nib! That way you can explore the Inks and have fun, worry-free.

I like watching the colors separate. I've done chromatography once. I got the color separation but it was like a cm high or less, so I don't even know if I did it right. I used printer paper. I like the patterns that come out of the paper towel when I dry my nibs and remaining ink drips out, or when a wiping off a nib, and it get a splash of water or two. It looks like a supernova. Just to let you know Chennai is pronounced with a 'ch'in sound not 'sh'. Nice video. You do interesting things.

@@fountainPENdulum No I didn't. I tried bidding on an OMAS 360, but didn't get it. I tried bidding on a Cross Peerless 125 Blue Quartz, and also didn't get. It would have been my first Cross pen. Cross pens are on the thin side, but this is pretty thick, though it has a Gonzo of a nose, but it uses a Sailor 18kt nib, which is unique, and just has good detailing even though the cap is quite bulbous. I like the Blue Quartz and Titanium versions. I am approaching 60 pens so I want some pens that are truly, truly unique, while I figure out what to do about pens I don't think I'll use or want anymore. I don't want this many pens.

Haha, I hear ya! I've been successful at letting go of pens that don't fit my collection- as I've acquired I've also let go. There are still several I would like to let go of and many more I'd like to acquire!
