I own a 390 adv x and I got 32KMPL average fuel consumption on highways. Whereas in the city - Mumbai to be specific, riding in the traffic will result in a 18-22KMPL fuel consumption; which is horrible. I'd suggest a 250 if you want both city and highway riding experience. I myself use my 390x only for highways and touring. Talking about the windshield situation - I tried a few after market ones as well but since my height is 6 feet and the bike's seat height being so high, even the tallest aftermarket windshield blows the air right in the forehead section of my helmet. The GIVI airflow windshield might actually do the job but I don't feel like spending ~20k for a windshield.

Thanks a ton for this, I'm pinning this as this is really useful information. My inference about the fuel economy of the Adv 390 series was based on the people I interacted with; however, I don't know how much they revv the engine in highways. 20K is insane for a windshield!

I have the same adv 250 . I have done goa to hyd. 15hrs total time with stops. I stopped every 1hr for 5mins and for lunch etc. I didnt feel tired at all. So is the comfort. ❤

I am above 100kg myself. Plus i tend to carry lot of luggage including laptop and camera gear. I prefer using panniers too. Somehow i think 390x or 390 regular will be a better option for me than 250. Touring purpose.

In that case I think it is definitely better to go with the 390X unless you want the extra features that the regular 390 offers.

@@wheelsontarmac Thank you for the response brother. Will most probably pick either of the two.

You're welcome brother :) If you can get both the bikes for lengthier ride, take them both for rides along twisty roads and different terrains to help you chose.

Hey bro, How were the vibrations in the instrument cluster and windshield? Did they shake more at speeds above 95 and between 60-80? How was it. How about lighting through in nights How was seating comfort? How many kms can we travel without taking any pit stops
@wheelsontarmac
@wheelsontarmac Ай бұрын
Vibrations were not more than the usual amounts in high speed runs. For me, I experience more vibrations when I'm in a higher gear and slower speeds. There was no shaking of windshield. Lighting at night is ok and somewhat sufficient enough; but if you're out riding a lot at night, it could use with aux lights with a better sideways throw. Seating comfort is good for me, could use some add on rubber accessories, that can be removed. But, as mentioned in the video you can easily do 250-300 without rest. And I believe if you can push further, it can even stretch till 400. Hope this helps.

But it feels underpowered with a ~60kg pillion . Difficult to maintain 100 kmph.
@wheelsontarmac
@wheelsontarmac 3 ай бұрын
I was able to pull off 94/95 with pillion and a top box. 100 plus could be difficult with pillion I guess
@MrAdi1806

@@wheelsontarmac yes it can be pulled off to 95+ , but surely cannot be cruised at that speed with pillion.
@wheelsontarmac
@wheelsontarmac 3 ай бұрын
In that case I definitely would have to try it out. What do you feel is the attainable speed with a pillion?
@MrAdi1806
@MrAdi1806 3 ай бұрын
@@wheelsontarmac nice question to discuss. What I feel is , for first 1 hour or so cruising at 90-95 kmph is doable , when engine gets hot .. 6th gear can do 85-90kmph , it can go beyond that but it's not pleasant. Am I making sense here?
@wheelsontarmac
@wheelsontarmac 3 ай бұрын
@@MrAdi1806 Yes you are making a lot of sense. Also in general, I found that unless you redline in each gear it is really really hard to attain speeds like 130 or more. The pleasant spot without a pillion itself is around 94 to 100 for me. It is quite interesting to be honest on how it can behave differently after the engine becomes warm. In case you wish to add on some points that I would have missed, please feel free to comment.
