Informative as always. Recently the high end fakes are becoming increasingly difficult to spot even with the movement exposed. Your best advice is “if it too good to be true…then it isn’t true” is still the most sound advice for any type of purchase. I am enjoying your videos and subscribed. A few years ago I found two watches wrapped in cloth under the spare tire in a wrecked car while cleaning out the car so it could go to the junk yard. One is a Panerai Luminor Daylight. The other is Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore. Both heavy and look nice but as you suggest I had a watchmaker I trust look them over and as soon as he removed the case backs he showed me they are fake.

I googled the serial number for a watch I was about to buy on eBay and saw that many people had a watch with the same serial number. Turns out it was a Bombay Special, so I didn't buy it. I have a Seiko 5 that I now think is a Bombay Special even though the serial number checks out with Seiko's serial number search - it has a pry-off back cover that says it has a 5126 movement

I own a 70’s “replica” inherited from a Berry dear friend who bought it knowing what it was, told me the whole story behind it, and it’s only obvious after you open it and see it is a battery operated movement. Well... It can be hard to have experience with vintage watches or real Luxury watches. I've seen the new superclones and even the movement is hard to spot.

This is reason I won’t own a Rolex… most “wrist watchers” see it and think it’s fake anyway. The most faked watch of all… great vid Kalle.

I think "for the collector" means "do not wear, plating will flake right off". :D I can actually think of a manufacturer that sells, directly from the factory, an experimental batch where cases were made 30 years ago, and assembled recently, that can't be worn, for double what the actual new ones that are to be worn go for, where they were experimenting with materials and got it horribly wrong. Fair enough i guess :D

The Tanivas is not a fake, it is an example of junk budget watches before the quartz crisis killed them and that's a good thing. The Swiss were fully complicit btw, a part of history they have swept under the rug. But this highly misleading example was made in Italy apparently.

These was cheap replicas. I would like to see the difference between super clone (400-500 dollars) or hand made which use real Rolex parts (1400-1500 dollars). Could you please do video about those replicas. Thank you.

I have bought several fakes on my rounds getting watches for repairs. Pawn Shops don't take in crap watches but there are high end Rolex Omega fakes that are very hard to tell the difference even removing the back cover. All looks legit with these $1500 replicas. The problem is with dealers, they do not allow watches to be tampered with, by opening. You want it, buy it. Looking on EBay and no way to inspect it, you have to trust the seller is supplying a real legitimate watch. In watches it is always best to buy a new watch from a reputal dealer or trusted source. You only have your reputation to go on and selling fakes to buyers leaves you with a negative reputation.

Please be careful. I have seen channels get strikes for showing fake watches even when they are only shown as a way to warn people. I'd hate to see you get in trouble with KZfaq. They don't have enough common sense to see that you are doing a service.

Thank you for a most informative video, half a year ago i looked at a vintage Seiko 5 sports. The second hand swept, almost, when i askedtge seller to remove the case it was a quartz, a high beat quartz movement. The seller told me that all Seiko 5 from the 70s had quartz movements, i did ofcourse not buy that feiko. But for a beginner in the watch collecting it can be difficult to know. Please do not compare a fake watch with a homage, i own a Pagani Design Daytona homage with a mecha quartz movement, and a Tacticalfrog H-5 a captain Willard homage. These 2 are not fakes. When people ask me about them i tell them what kind of watches they are what the movements are and where i bought them.

Very good video. The Seiko did not have an Indian movement as commented by one of the viewers and seconded by you. It looks like a cheap Russian movement, not an Indian one. India does not, I repeat,does not produce fake movement. We have world class watch company like Titan which has purchased Favre-Leuba watch brand, the iconic swiss brand.

You are looking at homage watches with Dutch (Western) eyes. All fine, each has his opinion like you also said. But ... Asian people like to honor famous designs and brands by copying them or getting inspiration from them. There is more to it then your own local view. Just my 2 cents.

It always amazes me with some high end fakes, that the effort they put in to make these watches “fake” is so wasted, as they could probably make there own watch, which could look good and keep incredible timing. But it’s all about the $$$$$$
