As a student I wear my g shock g5600 for everyday use. It has really done its job for the past 8 years I've owned it. Such a bang for the buck.

Casio gshock model 500A not the best looking but definitely the most practical at $80 bucks, with its multiband 6 feature, solar power, 200 meters water resistance, and of course shock proof. It will never let you down.

Seriously-under-the-radar suggestion or even a secret hint: Dugena Monza Chronograph from the 90s. It features an ETA quartz movement, a screw down crown, 100m of water resistance and is a true strap monster. I'm rocking a black dial version on a vintage style brown rallye leather strap. I love that thing!

For most people, including students, it's about looks and fashion. So get a simple quartz strap monster from a good brand (not the "fashion watch" junk), then concentrate on building a strap collection. The watches collection will come with time. For me it was Bulova 96B104 with a bunch of both "usual" and unusual straps. Got so much mileage from that thing. Live it looks way better than in pictures, dial is actually a very subtle champagne sunburst. I would occasionally get yet another 30-50 USD decent and interesting strap to totally transform it... (for example try a rich green/emerald leather... it's killer on this one). Then get another watch you like with the same lug width. Instant "large" and very versatile collection.

The Casio Duro is what I would have suggested to myself. They come in a bunch of different colors, you can mod the hell out of them, and best of all they are super cheap. You can buy 4 of them on a $200 budget. Great all around first watch. The only knock is if you are a smaller person with a tiny wrist they are on the large side at 44mm.

Bambino is just awesome. Even as I acquire a larger collection, I always find myself putting it back on.

Just got a Boderry Voyager and I have to say for the price it's outrageously good.

G shocks and Hamilton Khakis are great value, and there a ton of great Seiko options. Big fan of Timex, too.

May be a little late, but the watches I will almost always suggest, are the Timex south street sport watch and the Timex Expedition Field. Both around $50, ones more of a dress watch (south street) smaller and lighter while the field is a thicker, more durable one with a chronograph.

If you mention the Boderry, then you can also throw in other AliX brands. Addiesdive AD2023-1 (Explorer 1016 design), or the Steeldive SD1970 Willard. Some Tandorio (if u don't like the name they have sterile versions without the brand name and logo).

As a Highschool Student who cant even afford a casio edifice, I just buy broken or damaged watches fix them and wear them, sometimes you can even buy a 200 worth watch

I wore a Casio F91W through college and a few years after college until I discovered Cadisen Day Date watches. They are daydate homage watches for less than $80 USD.

G-Shock 5610 is the way to go, dare I say it is perfect. I do have my eyes on a Casioak, maybe the new ga-2300 although no tough solar is sad

I'd even recommend the Casio Royale for students, especially if one is an exchange student, and wants to keep easy track of what time it is in their home country.

Just for someone who wants to buy boderry voyager, incredible watch for the price , but buy the black dial , i have the white one , the lume isn't prominent on that one , i am a sucker for lume so it was a turn off for me , the black dial has lume on the indicis as well.

I would tell myself to save an extra $100 and get a Tissot Gentleman in Quartz. That’s a HUGE jump in look, feel, experience for a small jump in price. Under $200, I’d tell myself to go get a Gshock DW5600 for $50 and a Bambino for $150. Perfect 2 watch collection under $200.

When i was young i tried fossil watches but oh boy did they break down faster than an egg in a hot summer on a tropical beach. Any DW 5600 would saved my day.. Young viewers go for g shock. Now i own various squares

A good watch if the G-shock GD6900

Got a Vostok Amphibia, and it’s OKAY. It’s not amazing. I got shipped a crap one where the bezel just free floats and doesn’t click into place. Absolutely annoying and I didn’t feel like sending that hunk of junk back to get it fixed. So I just let it ride and keep it tucked away in a drawer. Decent watch, decent water resistance but all around kind of subpar at its best

If you’re a student and into watches, don’t pay anything over $200 for a watch. Save all the money 💰 you can so you don’t go into student debt

I'd go for something vintage and go for a higher tier of watch, no point mocking about with seikos and casios

For $100 the paganis are great for $200 a pre owned Tissot is the way to go

I should have bought the skx009 back in the days for about 180 euros sometimes less with discount

I can buy luxury watches now but I still own and like Casios. Functional, accurate, easy to wear and definitely unpretentious.
