Chuck Berry’s music was included on the voyager probe that is currently in interstellar space. No other rock and roll artist made it. only Chuck.

The true KING OF ROCK AND ROLL . He outlived, outplayed, and outwrote Elvis Presley. Just imagine if Elvis wrote his own songs, played his own music, and had to live in a society that that treated him derogatory because of his racial origin. Nuff said.

Only God can judge Chuck, he lived the way he wanted and made a lot of little. So for everybody pointing out his faults/flaws and transgressions lay off of him stop acting so damn self righteous like y'all don't have skeletons in your closet.

Gracias a canciones como "Maybellene" (1955), "Roll Over Beethoven" (1956), "Rock and Roll Music" (1957) y "Johnny B. Goode" (1958), Berry redefinió los elementos del rhythm and blues.

One can sort of see the British snark response to Chuck not wanting to interview with them. They even went on the radio in St Louis to goad Chuck to an interview lol. I kinda don't blame them since he hasn't sat down for an interview for a long time. I wonder why Chuck Berry is so reclusive? The last few years recognizing unrecognized Black achievement in American history would've welcomed him with fanfare.

Still, this minidoc has a sort of surface quality the textbook way it addressed the racism and discrimination Berry prevailed against, but was also damaged by. You could even see the sort of disunion between Berry's kids and the interviewer: "You think dad did it to drive you mad?" Her: "No, I thought it was beautiful". Showing that scene where berry pulls rank on the drug addict from the stones... (what's his name?)whilst Richards is still indignant perfectly incapsulates the sort of quality this report was missing if it weren't just USING the spirit of "I'm doing a documentary on Chuck Berry" nominally. it seemed an encyclopedic foray into Chuck berry (I know there's a lot more color he could've imparted to us about Berry's life in books and about the early age of Rock n Roll in general) and because of it it just comes across as clunky and hollow.

We sat next to this BBC guy, I am the one walking on sidewalk with shorts at 7:07. After concert in duckroom was over, I tried to explain to the BBC guy in this video that Mr. Berry always took a short 15 minute break at end, and then went to small "autograph session" to the right of stage. The BBC guy DID NOT listen to me, and in fact asked me to get out of his way. He instead, ran out of the building with his crew in tow thinking they would find Mr. Berry. Hahahahaha . Should have listened to me, huh? Maybe at least got a 30 sec. statement from Mr. Berry and an autograph like the rest of us peasants in attendance. Instead, they have "stock footage" from a separate movie hahahahaha. Never even got a single video or anything with Mr. Berry. But you did get ME on the sidewalk hahahahahahahahahaha

The greatest musician there ever was and ever will be. Ashame the likes of Presley and the Beatles leeched off of such talented black musicians like Berry and little richard in racist 50's and 60's America

SociallyDemocratic Oh come on!. No way was he the greatest musician. America was racist? Well I've observed many white musicians, critics, rock fans appreciating black music. More so it would seem than blacks appreciating white music. What you wont say is he was a child abuser and pervert who photographed women in toilets. And isn't My Ding a Ling a disgrace.

Are you denying America's racism? Yeah let's just airbrush straight over those public lynchings eh, cos that's just left-wing propaganda! Yes musicians of all races shared an appreciation for eachother's music, but the American public was racist. The Beatles and Presley were very packagable and commercially viable to a white audience. You have to question why so many white artists literally claimed songs from the likes of Berry into their own discography's. However I will concede that he wasn't a good person. But unfortunately for you, I never said he was so that point remains redundant. Berry successfully turned what was an unevolved sound from blues into one of the most recognisable music genres today. His guitar work was unheard of. His vocals too. The vibe of his music was revolutionary. There's no denying that he was *at least* one of the greatest of all time, no matter how much you dislike his character.

Well didn't the American public buy Chuck Berry's music in large numbers? There hasn't been any prejudice in music against black people. I'm just worried about Berry's sexual criminality being ignored.

The same way that black musicians borrowed from African rhythm and Irish folk. So what? Elvis and The Beatles were always quick to talk about their influences.

Presley and the Beatles paid royalties in the normal way when they did Chuck Berry songs, in contrast to e.g. Chuck who simply stole "I Got To Find My Baby" from Peter Clayton. If you want to show everyone you despise the white racists of about the '50s, don't pick on Elvis and the Beatles, who treated their black friends well and routinely talked about the influence of black music on them, despise actual white racists of the time, such as Ross Barnett.

@@nikolayyanev9148 that doesn't necessarily mean he was the first, for example Little Richard's career goes back way longer than that. Tbh I dont even praise Elvis as the first anymore. Have a listen to Rock Awhile (1949) by Goree Carter and I think you'll see what I mean
