this why these two will not be forgotten not just in the hip hop world but also for their contributions to uplift black folks. they didn't and still don't have all the answers but from day one these two and other brothers and sisters who were given a voice uses it.

I agree. Both are so far ahead that many people didn't get it. Even though they did not have broadcast back then, nowadays its all about KZfaq, tik tok, instagram, twitter, facecrook. So now we get to see this which is awesome.

I lived in LA and was shocked how segregated it is. The US is really backward in this .Against the odds the black community has produced the most advanced minds, breakthroughs´ in music etc I cant believe it is still an issue.The ghettos are getting bigger and the prisons too. Pay back is long over due ..Respect to Chuck D & KR-1

Happy to see Chuck D and KRS ONE being interviewed they have beautiful minds, even if I at least personally found the interviewer temperamental. But as we know, knowledge rules supreme over nearly everybody.

Krs-One is very intelligent, and educated, and if he follows someone's silly, ignorant or inappropriate train of thought he becomes deeper, and presents more intelligence that outdoes the interviewer as he said, blacks are paying insurance company's as it is a valid critique' that it can be looked at like that.

I believe this is about 1991 or 1992. Now back to 2011, notice how mentality within hip hop community (if it still exist) has changed. I don't agree with everything they said on the interview, but I really miss that many rappers had great interests on social matters. I don't see many rappers today rapping about social issues anymore.

daaamn, some love from a legit ZN'er!??! shucks, my pale cheeks are blushin'! in all seriousness, i express my sincere gratitude, sir. run-dmc changed my life when i was 10yrs old & i haven't looked back since. soon after, got into the knowledge of teachers like chuck, krs, rakim, ice-t, g rap, kane, & a bit later, poor righteous teachers, brand nubian, x-clan, paris, etc...& i'm a canadian 'white boy' from the french speaking province! hip hop led me to coltrane, p-funk, sly, james, miles,etc..

There are a lot of intelligent rappers/MCs, today. It's just that they're not on the radio and television. Mainstream entertainment is dominated by trends. Listen to the song "Dumb It Down" by Lupe Fiasco. He talks about different reasons why various entities involved with rap/Hip-Hop want the music to be dumbed down.

Really like this interview and the interviewer. Nice to see Kris before he sold out. The interviewer was poised, dignified and respectful. He asked hard questions but listened as well. It's too bad his children bill o'reilly and hannity learned nothing from him.

daaaamn, well said, one love indeed. what a line-up for a concert, especially in 88! i saw ice-t live in montreal in 2007, he hadn't missed a beat, dope as fuck, great show! i met chuck in 2008 & burst into tears... he was soooo nice, 'oh, c'mon now, don't cry'.... he's used to it. such a nice person... man, i'm with you, ytube is such a powerful new (ish) tool, we can use it as our record label, tv station, political pulpit, whatever... keep in touch, & be safe!

I think he was just trying to be a good interviewer and ask the questions most of white America were asking at that time, to give them a chance to try and explain their side. It was condescending that he was mentioning how well spoken they were, but I'm sure it was unintentional. Most people wouldn't think of a rapper as someone who is thoughtful and insightful, especially in 1992. I've seen the exact same interview towards white punk artists before.

This was awesome and I wished this where Hip-Hop went further into. Unfortunately the higher ups was scared of where Hip-Hop was going and poisoned it and now it’s barely anything but music that leads to self destruction. Yes there’s still real ones out there but you gotta search for them, it’s not so obvious Hip-Hop has other things going on other than sex, drugs and guns.

He'd be able to speak on that and has spoken on that, many times, but this platform didnt have the time to go into that. Interestingly, since this is from '92 and the BDP album that year was Sex and Violence, you can listen to the song "Drug Dealer" and catch part of the commentary you're craving. I think it's fine to acknowledge the obstacles any group in any ghetto may have, but it's a bit ignorant to compare the experience of struggling first-generation Europeans to that of African Americans

I am wondering if Nixon had not resigned and continued to help fund Floyd McKissick's original Soul City NC plan would have worked and flurished to other areas would things be different. I know (Rep Jesse Helmes cancelled the funding) but Nixon maybe because of McKissick's endorsement did fund the project.
