Agreed I can't find that "helping hand" when I search for it, I get a soldering tool I've already got. Keep the good stuff coming.

Used oak for mine but made it shiplap style and ran it the other way. It’s heavier then cedar but can’t complain when it was free and all I had to do was mill it down to 1/8 of an inch

looks great. I debated doing this method, but I just felt like the lines going with the length of the bus worked better for my build. aligning the boards with width makes the bus feel wider, whereas aligning with the length makes it feel longer.

Love the ceiling❣ It's so cozy. I know you didn't mind the gaps on the side but if you did, what would kind of trim would accommodate that?

In my 1965 unimog I also have a curved roof. My walls are varnished okoume. And for the roof I have 40 year old mahogany 5mm plywood sheets. Which I also gonna varnish. Curves and round shapes are so pretty 😍

That's similar to how I'm doing mine. I can't go direct to the furring strips though. My puck lights are 5" diameter so a hole saw would wreak havoc on that method, so I got some 1/4" birch plywood to go up first.

Hey Chuck! I have spray foam installed in my walls. Just wondering on really old buses with a lot of, hmmm, ‘quirks’ whether you’ve ever heard of carpenter ants becoming an issue?

Looks incredible!!! I want to do mine like this! I’ve been waiting on this video lol. Any reason not to use wider boards? I noticed you used them on Alyssa’s bus, but not yours?

I'm in early 60s Chuck and man do I seriously need a schooly un finished like yours was when you first parked in the mountains to install the heater. Chuck, well there's one little problem,can you find something for me?, It's sort of a messed up long story man but after breaking my neck and back in a few different ways I'm still alive man. Hey maybe I'm just a little blind or whatever but is there a email to talk to you at? I'm really into this new way of life but got pretty beat up along the way and limited somewhat on funds man let's talk

how did you fix up the strapping to tge ceiling Chuck? Just glue? I assume not puncturing the outer shell of tge bus with fixings of some kind?

Why not put the ceiling in before the interior walls? That way you wouldn’t have to go around them. You could just build the walls up to the finish ceiling.
@bradenmackey8116
@bradenmackey8116 10 ай бұрын
ceiling is typically done first because of the cabinets and any upper head storage. otherwise, you have a lot of notches to cut out.

Hey Chuck, You’re probably finished by now with your bus, but I’m curious on how much money did it cost you from start to finish in completing your bus? Also how much would you charge a customer like myself for you to do the job for me? My wife hates “camping” but I love it.
