Church of God Leads Climate Action with 'Forest of Hope'

The Church of God World Mission Society, Syari, Gangtok Branch, launched the 'Forest of Hope' campaign in Kyongnosla, Gangtok. This initiative, part of the global 'Environment Day' celebrations, aims to combat desertification and promote biodiversity through tree planting, waste collection, and wildfire prevention activities.
At the opening ceremony, 85 church members participated, planting 210 trees provided by the Sikkim State Forest Department. They also held a panel exhibition to raise awareness about desertification.
Peter Sharma from the Church of God emphasized the importance of this campaign as part of their broader efforts to address climate change and promote sustainability. The Church of God is conducting similar activities worldwide, marking their 60th anniversary.
The campaign also includes cleaning beaches, reducing plastic use, and other environmental initiatives, supporting the global goal of reducing carbon emissions and fostering a sustainable future.
