It’s more stepford wives, than get out. But it’s also a resemblance of the play “A Doll’s House” by Henrik Ibsen. In it, a woman questions her assigned roles as a caretaker, mother, and wife and then the wife ends up just packing her things and leaving. It’s a good play, I’m butchering it’s summary of it though.

I don’t think it’s the piece of trash that everyone claims it to be, I just think it’s a bit of a mess and full of wasted potential, but I didn’t hate it, in fact I thought about it a lot after seeing it, mainly because that (with you all the time) song was stuck in my head, but I thought about, how it could have been made better. 1. I think it’s an interesting notion that some people are there voluntarily, whilst others are held against their will, they should’ve built on that, instead of just telling us right at the end. 2. It made no sense to have him unemployed in one part of the film, and then employed in the next part, especially if that was the catalyst that led him into doing this. They both should’ve met in medical school, but her career blossomed and his didn’t or he dropped out completely, or even have him worked in a different field but was making significantly less than her, and felt “emasculated” about it. 3. They should’ve made it more like a cult, all the men worked for the victory project, they have to sign over all their money and property to Frank, to show their devotion to the cause, as well as recruit other men, and that’s how they’re able to live and pay to be in the simulation. 4. It also would’ve made more sense if they were in a victory project facility, instead of just in their apartment, especially because after a while people are going to be looking for a missing surgeon, and guess where they’re gonna look first. Plus by putting them in a facility, it would explain how she hasn’t died after week with no food and barely any water, because the only thing that she seems to be attached to, is an IV full of drugs. 5 . I think the continuous shaking and flashes of the dancers could’ve been explained as, Alice trying to fight the simulation, which could also explain why Frank was so interested in Alice, because she was clever and she kept fighting it, and he saw it as a challenge to his system. 6. The ending where Gemma stabs Chris, it seemed to come out of nowhere, what they should have done was, make the victory project her idea or both of theirs, but he twisted it, gained control and now she’s a victim to it too, like Serena in the Handmaids Tales, it would explain why she said “it’s my turn now”. I mean I could go on, and that’s my point when you start making up your own story just to fill in the gaps of something you’ve just watched, it’s not a great. I think it could’ve worked better if it was a TV show, each episode focused on a different couple, and if it was written cleverly enough we could still have the “twist” ending, and just like Westworld (RIP to that show) instead of different parks, there are different eras of time and with that, different forms of control. I don’t know I’m not a writer. At the end of day they didn’t flesh out plot lines they clearly set up, but if it was a TV show maybe they would have time, and could retcon the mistakes made in the film.

It gave all the "stepford wives" that I didnt know I needed. Please in your spare time ( if such a thing exists for you, my beautiful chocolate king) watch that bcuz I'm sure you'd love it 🥰🥰😘. I beleive good movies need to make you think but this movie sets up a whole lot of small mystries that are never fully answered , it leaves a taste of unfinished . I think reducing the crazy beautiful scenes and expanding the universe outside the simulation would have benifited the story .

It's not bad, it just has lost potential. Florence never misses and I love Chris Pine as the villian. But still the script needed work and Harry's performance is slighted (while still being charming when needed) bc he doesn't have the experience C & F and the rest of the cast to work around an "okay script".

Okay as a film writer I reallyyy disliked it because the writing was terrible and also The Stepford Wives is very close to my heart and this movie just felt like a rip off of that. Not to mention what a cop out the ending of this film was,,, I feel like the movie really began in the last 30 mins and it would have been an interesting film to see how she takes down the program and saves the other women after she escapes. Tbh the only thing this movie had going for it was how pretty it looked (so props to the costume department and camera crew) as well as Flo, Gemma and Chris' performances. Kiki Layne also deserved better than having her pitoval plot scenes cut!! Okay that's my two cents on the film now to watch your hilarious reaction Chuu cos I know you'll deliver!!

This movie is literally so confusing

If I had a dollar for every time you asked "What is happening?"...

So from my understanding I believe that Harry’s character was not happy with himself and his life and when he found out about the victory project he decided to participate. He found Florence’s character and basically kidnapped her, they threw her into this trance state with Harry so they both were in this new world together. He programmed her to love him and live the life that Harry’s character wanted. The same thing happened to all of the other woman there. That’s why the movie is considered a “feminists” film.
