Definitely sounds like a major boss battle theme from the Mother series. Or a trippy “Dimension X” level from some space shooter. Or a fast-paced level in some kick ass scrolling beat ‘em up. So many possibilities!!!

Depends on how much CPU you want to use. If you have the full 68K + Z80 combo, you can do Amiga-style 4-channel software mixing with all digital samples. The Z80 itself can mix two PCM channels at least; unless I'm mistaken Huelsbeck did this on Mega Turrican. Very little of this track is PCM audio; if you throw in a PCM kick and snare you could do some really impressive breakbeats on the Mega Drive. I don't know that he's done a pure Breakbeat track, but you should check out GENATARi if you enjoy jungle/D&B-style electronic music and want to hear it done on the Mega Drive. He's pretty much the only Gen/MD chiptuner out there I'd say stands on equal footing with Savaged Regime.

@@azazelleblack yeah the new fractal driver does 2 channel PCM on the z80, with pitch and volume support among other things. for example: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g5hpeM2rqM6ZgHk.html The most popular driver for homebrew though does 4 channel mixing on the z80 (with harsh restrictions).

@@BrettLevin4096 Oh man, now you got me wanting to see a 32X or even SVP port of Wipeout. I think using some clever fake 3D tricks along with real 3D ships you could make it look pretty convincing. Or maybe do FMV tracks like old MegaRace and similar games. Actually, is it possible to use the SVP along with the 32X? I know Virtua Racing SVP won't boot when installed into a 32X. As far as your actual question, I think this soundtrack would work great for a game that played like a hybrid of Sonic and Contra. Small sprites so you could have a relatively large playfield, quick movement with wall latching and dashing, eight-way aiming plus a dedicated melee attack button, six-button controls so you can have buttons for changing weapons and "interact"...

AWESOME!!! Kinda reminds me of Krush, kill and Destroy 2 and the “Series 9” faction soundtrack. Farming robots run by an A.I. that has a few screws loose. Would fit perfectly in a sequel game (that will never happen most likely).

From what I can tell, it looks like our good pal movie sonic here is succumbing to what appears to be a brain eating fungus. seeing as how the song gets more chaotic over time, and the background stretches and warps more and more as the song progresses. hi savaged, i know you're probably not going to respond to this comment, but i'm very curious if you used Deflemask or Furnace tracker to make this track. cause Furnace tracker is probably the best Open Source alternative to Defle, heck furnace can even load .DMF files as backwards compatibility. And furnace literally has FM macros. 🤯
