Hello! If Amazon is still sold out of Levamisole, and you're looking for medicine options, another great choice is Fritz Paracleanse. I've tested this out a few times since the making of this video and it has worked very well. Here's the link if you need it! Fritz Paracleanse - geni.us/PBSOE

@@CichlidBros Hi there. I have a young oscar cichlid he has been having white traily faeces (like the thumbnail pic) for a few weeks now. He is otherwise seemingly ok, very lively, always eats, front and centre of the aquarium etc. I have previously treated for anti internal bacteria (which i believe was the wrong medication now. I have 3 other fish in the aquarium and they are all pooping normally. Do you think my oscar could have worms, and if so wouldn't my other fish be showing the same symptoms?

Thank you for your channel!! You have been a frequent guest in our home since we found your channel several months ago. You have helped us to learn more about our American cichlids then you’ll ever know, so first and foremost “Thank You”. So now to my question, we recently lost one of our 2 Oscar’s to what we now know thanks to your channel, worms. We have removed our living Oscar from his 90 gal tank to the hospital 20 gal tank. We purchased metroplex,Focus and garlic guard and it actually came in a pack along with KanaPlex. My question is can you treat the water along with giving it orally. My concern is he is not eating and I fear he won’t eat this concoction with the garlic either . Would it hurt to do both just in case he does eat it I don’t want to overmedicate him and kill him.

ABSOLUTELY.... it was a concern for me as well .... I’ve found this dosage is at the higher limits Cichlid brothers say that so you really need to use your discretion many say you can cut this dose in half and get good results... it really depends on severity and fish 🐠 type

4:20 You're recommending a strong dosage compared to what most others are saying. Everyone else I've seen recommends 2 mg per liter, which is 7.57 mg per gallon. So, the dosage would only be 757 milligrams (0.757 grams) per 100 gallons.

Thanks for the comment! Levamisole is very potent, so I think erring on the lower side is a good idea. We followed a few people’s instructions online with the 5 gram/100 gallon dosage and have seen great success and no deaths in our experience. It’s a really tough infection to kill off completely, so it’s up to ones own discretion, depending on the severity of the infection

Excellent video! I followed your instructions precisely. I have a 75 gallon community tank with semi aggressive fish. I am on day 2; I completed the first 50% water change after 24 hours. Question: is it normal that all the fish swim on the bottom now, they don't want to eat and they stopped harrassing each other? Sadly they don't swarm to the front when I approach. Did this happen in your experience? I did not lower my temp to 75 deg, it is at the usual 82 deg. Any insight?

FYI, here's an update. I completed the second water change after 3 days, and thankfully the entire tank is back to normal! The fish are energetic, eating, quarrelling with each again; oh and the 2 sick fish appear to be healed! It was touch and go for awhile, but sticking to "the plan" really paid off. Thanks again for a GREAT fish saving video!

Thank you for all your information love the video!! I had an established tank water tested out perfect, no ammonia. In this 10 gallon tank I put six guppies all males. Within two weeks 3 of them have died. They were kind of going towards the top of the tank but a few of them would go all over the tank . They would stop eating and go very slowly. These ones died. I thought it was oxygen so I recently put a bubbler in there.. but it sounds like they may have worms and parasites in their body I don't know where they came from. I don't know if it's worth treating them. If I don't use this stuff and the guppies die. What happens if I put six more guppies in there will they now have parasites.. Do I have to treat the water before I put new guppies in the tank?

@@marioortiz7264 Yeah it turns out it's just crappy guppies from the regular stores. I recently got some healthy guppies from a friend. Someone who had a known established tank with guppies he got from a reputable store not the typical box stores. He actually gave me 43 guppies went against all the rules. My tank was established for like 2 weeks I told him they're probably going to die because I don't have enough beneficial bacteria. He said no big deal just test it out.. I told him I only needed about 10 guppies or just a few he said no take them they keep breeding.. So I just put all 43 in a 15 gallon tank. I just put an extra filter on the back put in some plants... And none of them have died never had one issue.. It had to have been those crappy guppies from the big box stores.. I've had these guppies now for about 3 months no issues whatsoever

This videos out there even describing never by certain fish especially guppies from Big Box pet stores. ;) I even spoke with the girl who gets the guppies and showed me how they come in from Florida in their own poo and pee for a 4 days in their own ammonia and garbage and half of them come in diseased already with issues it's disgusting. The guy I got my guppies from have been breeding them for a couple of years so I know they've been taken care of and they've been very good with no problems. Thank you so much for this post. I am new to the hobby and got 3 molly's from petco. I did notice stringy white poop from one but thought it was from over feeding or something. It's been 2 months and 1 of the other molly's pineconed on me. I thought she was going to have babies because she swelled up but when her scales lifted I read about Dropsy. So now she is in a hospital tank with Epsom salt and her swelling has gone down. Flowerhorn still as no interest in eating and still pooping white stuff. I error-ed on the side of caution with the dosing. If i calculated correctly dosing was 1/4 of teaspoon. But i used 1/8 tsp. Also, he forgot to take out carbon the first 24 hours. He did a water change last night and also took out carbon. Should we do another small dose because it was a smaller amount, or wait? Feel helpless would like to help him, thanks...

Judy Gennarelli that’s a great question. I think since you did the first dose on the smaller end, and did the water change, that you should be okay to add slightly more. I would maybe do a third or half what the actual dose should’ve been, just to be safe. Just keep a close eye on him after that and do a water change if he’s really irritated by the meds

The link is broken. Please give me link. I don’t think my has parasites. His poop is black. He hasn’t been eating and staying at the bottom of tank alone. Chasing other fish away. I think my Ellioti is either pregnant or something. He has a lil white line on the back fin. Best to have all meds then not enough.

Sorry about that, it looks like Amazon sold out! The next best medicine I found is Fritz Paracleanse. This stuff actually seems to irritate the fish less and is equally as effective. Here's a link to it! - bit.ly/3gTdfBd

Thanks for this. Because this med is so strong, is it harmful to fry? I have some guppy fry that are about a month old but just aren’t growing. Today I saw stringy white poop from one of them and I knew it was parasites, but I’m wondering if this med is too strong for fry......

@@CichlidBros thanks for responding so fast. I think I’m going to use metroplex with some focus and garlic guard. I don’t get it. I QT the parents for 6 wks before I put them in the same tank. I saw no white poop from either of them. But the fry aren’t growing and now the white poop screams internal parasites.

Is there a way to know for sure if you have these diseases in the water? This is an awful lot of work for an assumption
@CichlidBros
@CichlidBros 3 жыл бұрын
That best way to know for sure is to use a microscope on the feces. Most people won’t have that, so the stringy clear poop along with not eating and lethargic attitude are the best surface level signs of this disease

You are right thought, you can use paraguard, try aquarium salt, and do a combination of methods (AQ salt in main tank, dips) (paraguard dips) for treatment depending on severity. Plus, fish not eating and having white stringy poop could be due to numerous reasons. mostly, due to water or poor diet and or stress.

You didn't say in your video why you chose to treat with Levamisole. Did you see evidence of red worms protruding from the fish's anus? I've done a 3 week course of Metronidazole (in food) for sunken belly with no success. The fish has a great appetite and is more active after treatment. Wondering if prazi should be my next course of treatment? Since I've not seen any visible worms I'm hesitant to try Levamisole just yet. Fritz has come out with Expel which is Levamisole so dosing is easier.

You're leaving a lot out? The first water change you're not telling us how much to change? Should we change the water 50% and then add the medication? Or when you say water change do you mean a 100%? Also you say do this 3 weeks later for a second time. During those 3 weeks do you do your regular water changes? you can't leave your fish tank without a water change for 3 weeks it could cause high nitrates or nitrates and ammonia and kill your fish.. cuz I assume you'll be feeding them during those 3 weeks!!
