Tombstone was way ahead of its time. They figured out how to shoot 3 shots from a double barrel and 10 from a 6 shooter. Further adding to Earp's legendary status.

Man I know how you feel! These days it's easy to lose yourself in bad feelings. If you can afford it try getting a small caliber handgun and take some lessons about safety and proper handling and join us. Shooting can be very uplifting when you just go to a range and shoot targets and pretend the targets are all those feelings and SMILE, MAN! IT HELPED ME A LOT!

@@lewisholmes5745 I live in San Francisco...no negative comments please.....I have a plinker colt commandeer bb gun...I think a 22 revolver for target 🎯 practice may be the way to go...... I'm not violence depressed... just retired and have lost a sense of purpose depressed......I don't know where you are, but San Francisco used to have six gun shops...... now zero....We have a place to shoot about 5 miles from San Francisco airport..... I appreciate your comments....I enjoy how well hickok 45 explains all the workings of the tools.......

You can still have real ivory grips made assuming that you can find the ivory. My father was a professional grip maker up until just a few years ago when he had several strokes. For many years he bought ivory tusks from estate collections all over the US. These days, though, the supply is mostly exhausted and due to that, there aren’t many people left that can still carve them.

I own the rig you are talking about, John. This is a different pistol. It is nearly the same, but the one with the whole rig is not engraved all over like this one, but it does have “Doc Holiday” engraved on the handle strap. It is nickel plated and is .45 Colt. I bought the rig from Collector’s Firearms in Houston, TX. I am a dentist and CAS shooter. My SASS alias is “Doc Higgins”, so I DID HAVE TO HAVE this rig!😉. The way Greg is talking, you might be able to get a gun like he is shooting in this video from Bud’s in TN. GOOD LUCK!!!

A huckle bearer is another name for pallbearer, a person carrying a coffin. Doc Holliday said “I'm your huckle bearer". Sounded like huckleberry instead, and the line stuck.

I actually shot better using a smith and wesson 686 in single action one handed than a glock 17. All of my shots were slow and deliberate using both guns.

I wish Uberti would have design a good double-action for Cimarron, not necessarily a direct copy of 1877(don’t want a fragility)but do a new modernized one. This would definitely be my dress gun if they done that. A 4-4.5 lb sa pull, a 11 lb da smooth transition pull, modern steel for modern ammunition. Personally I’d like 4.5” barrel 44-40 or a 45 colt.

I bought the Thunderer in 1998 and the cylinder timing is perfect, no drag marks from the cylinder lock pin.

Are revolvers the most reliable hand gun?? My grandfather fought in WW2, he was an army Military Policeman and Commando I think, anyway he captured a German soldier and was marching him back through the lines when an American Colonel? took out his pearl handled Colt 45 and shot the prisoner dead. My grandfather asked him "what he was doing, that man was my prisoner" and the Colonel said "hey buddy, there's a round in here for you!" I've never forgotten that story. Every time I hear the word Colt I think of that story. War makes people do terrible things. Love your content Hickock....

You can own an ivory grip firearm as long as it's made before the ban... There's an ivory grip nickel plated 1911 with the free masons eye engraved on it for almost 4000 at the local shop near me... They have more really old and cool pistols up there im talking 100+ years and still functioning

@@WALTERBROADDUS Idk about OP, but for me, the pattern for what westerns I like or dislike seems to be based on how old or how modern the movies are. The story pacing and acting style in old westerns just feel off to me. Examples being True Grit and The Magnificent Seven. After enjoying the remakes, I really tried to like the classics but I just couldn’t. Tombstone leans more into the modern set of movies for me.

im not to personally in favor of how westerns/classics "CUT" re-loading scenes out of movies...in reality those are the most crucial moments in a gun fight which is RARELY captured. Or watching "gunslingers" that carry multiple firearms...toss/holster a gun as its emptied to draw another gun. In reality the eras greatest gunslingers/marksmen all had their SOP for re-loading/switching to another loaded firearm and i like seeing these "actions" play out in a scene. To add to the suspense/action. VS some guy just unloading the same revolvers on a constant basis.

In the movie yes but Doc Holidays carry was a shoulder holster 38 Lighting or a 41 Thunder both are Colt double action But that Huckleberry is beautiful.

I believe the line was huckle bearer referring to part of the handles on a coffin. Funny how things get heard and just carry on, id seen the movie a hundred times before someone told me this. Could be wrong though 🤔

It`s huckle bearer because the handles on a casket are called huckles. I`m your huckle bearer means I`m going to help carry your casket.

as far as the 5 or 6 rounds in the gun...i tend to side with John Wayne from "the shootist" for safety load 5 if you feel you need to then load 6.....

I have a nickel plated Pistolero chambered in .357. Very nice gun. The only gripe I have with it is the edges of the trigger are a bit sharp and make your finger sore after a while. I had to smooth out the corners with a file. Other than that minor, easily correctable issue, it's a great gun.

Just picked up one of these from Bud's and it fits in perfectly with my other two nickel engraved Cimmaron peacemakers, the 7 1/2" Teddy Roosevelt Roughrider model and the 5 1/2" Texas Ranger model. Great firearms and lots of history! Great video and some mighty fine shooting!

This revolver apparently uses the old "Four Click" Colt lockwork. The Uberti "Retracting Firing Pin" is an abomination!

Holiday carried a Nickel Plated 1877 Colt Lightening inside his vest, in a shoulder or chest type holster, presumably on the left side... That's what I've been told anyways....
