Thanks for the tutorial. I have been watching some of the same youtubers and wanted something new. Glad I found you.

You are so brilliant at padding information! Thank you for allowing to educate the dormant artist inside me and allow me to be knowledgeable before dipping into it !

Such an informative video, I took notes and learned SOOOOOOO much. Also I must mention how cool it is that you are so 'real' in your manner 😊 When you said a crap load of paint I actually laughed cause that is exactly an expression I would use 😂😂 Thanks again ❤️

Thanks. IMO if you want to teach art you have to be real about it.

this video really stands the test of time - 4 years after it's release. excellent content!
@nckey42Ай бұрын
I don’t think you quite grasp what “standing the test of time” actually means and/or when to use the phrase.. Also, the content isn’t excellent. The information is good. The content, however, is not excellent . There are so many things this guy does to bring down the quality of the vid. For instance, even if the vid is going to be a minute long, use a canvas, they are extremely cheap, but not as cheap or cheap looking as cardboard. Because of the cardboard, the brush strokes are wavy, which isn’t something you want in a video about brush technique. It’s confusing to a beginner. Also, he jumps in with an edit in order to explain a mistake he made, instead of just reshooting it or re-recording it which would be really easy to do. it’s not very professional at all… and those are just just a couple examples. The channel could be much more if the creator put more effort into it. Why do I care? I don’t.

Well pardon me, perhaps you should make painting tutorials yourself if it's so easy.

I'd rather put the effort into making my art better and let the video suffer. Clearly my style of video isn't for you. I hope you find someone you feel does a better job.

Thank you for this video, am wondering if you know how to create waves with brushes, do you just use a dry brush or make waves with a brush, thanks 🙏 jake
@cinderblockstudios2 жыл бұрын
Do you mean like ocean waves or wavy shapes? If we're talking about painting an ocean scene, every artist will have varying methods of doing that

I'm a beginner trying to not struggle, I'm dealing with layering a paint but when I brush I see the brush strokes visible. Is there a way to make my paint look solid clear like Opaque
@cinderblockstudios3 жыл бұрын
A soft bristled brush and a low viscosity paint will get you there...as long as you're using quality paint of course.

I’ve not painted a lot, but I start doing it more, I’ve realized that my brushes tend to just leave a spot of paint and then a bit of a drag across my canvas, which I’ve ignored so far but I am not sure what I am doing wrong or if it is just my brushes

This is VERY helpful, thank you! (I am very distracted and a bit turned off, however, every time you use the expression, "crap-load of paint". If you want to come across as a professional, maybe just say, "a lot of paint" or "a blob of paint." Just my point of view, over the age of 45...

Interesting. I had an earlier comment that basically said the opposite, and that it made the content more relatable. Not that I mind the critique, but I prefer to keep my presentation down to earth.

Great video! I hope you can answer my inquire.. need help! I bought some acrylic paints and joint compound to do a wall art design I thought lol using mixed paint with Spackle.. now they want a basic art piece using acrylic paints on a 23x28 canvas! Light gray first layer on canvas with white large Strokes over the gray with some gray showing Once the gray dries and I’m on to the next step by using the white acrylic paint over the gray, I thought about mixing it with some spackle to give it some texture but I do need a bigger paintbrush for the larger, white strokes that they are requesting I don’t have a video on it, but she showed me a picture of it. Thank you whew! Family lol Help! Lol

I do have an old video where I talk about using JC as molding paste, but my results were very much like "this probably is a bad idea for canvas." kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Zspdq5Wm2sDMqmQ.html However, there's lots of comments from other artist who talk about their experience mixing their own mixes for projects, so there does seem to be a way to use it effectively to some degree though IMO I don't recommend it for a texture medium, especially straight out of the bucket. Feel free to email me regarding the project with the picture in question. Though I do think it might be on you to have not taken a commission without knowing how to do it first (at least that's what jumps out to me)
