This is the best video about UV I've ever watched! But why don't you use a tool that copies the selection to the other side?

I don't think C4D has such tool apart from symmetry hub.

Thank you for your tutorial. I have a question. I have worked on a model and created the best form of UV's but actually when I use uv packing all the uv sizes change and convert to small uvs. for example I unwrapped a table and the surface of the table is too large. if I wanna set it to corect scale, uv is too large, actually larger than Uv box. if I change it and resize it into small pieces so that it can be fixed in the UV box, textures would change and it's too bad. In fact my main question is that if I unwrap a model and unwraped pieces are larger than the Uv box what should I do ?

Підкажіть будь ласка Чому у деяких місцях при наявності Hard Edge Ви не розрізали ці місця на UV? При запіканні таке рішення може привести до появи артефактів а саме швів на normal map. Наприклад на спусковому гачку. Просто цікаво.

Huge thanks for this tutorial. Can't believe someone upload it for free!!! I have a small question about importing model in Substance Painter. When you import model, you need low poly and high poly, right? So in this case I need to move this model under the subdiv and click "make editable" to get high poly model and then import low and high poly separately? Or I need to select all polygons and just subdivide it. Is there any difference? Thank you ❤❤❤

Thank you! First off all, you don't always need a high poly model to work with Substance, high poly version of the model helps to get better baked maps though. Subdivide tool ( in the right click menu ) will not be able subdivide your UVs, so you should use the Subdivision Genarator which has that option and it is crucial to work in Substance.

​​@polygonpen please please tell me what is the main reason i do not see cinema 4d being used in game ready assets,I want to start making the game ready assets and create my first model for portfolio, I'm using c4d for modeling purpose, I want to switch to max if it's important for maybe some advanced reasons that i may not know, do I need to switch to max at the beginning ? thanks in advance

Hi, this is about industry standarts, Max And maya are being used for many years for VFX and Games, so the pipelines are based on these programs. If you want to focus on game models etc, you should use Blender/Maya/Max, as I said companies have been using these programs for years, that doesn't mean that C4D is worse than the others though, it is just industry standarts.

Even if the object has a proper structure, sometimes it distorts itself in a crooked way when unwrapping UVs. Is there a quicker way to align all the points on the U and V axes?

I usuallu use ''rectangularize'' tool to fix that but that only works on isoleted islands so you should do it manually most of the time.

You should also add Substance designer, marvelous designer, SpeedTree, Marmoset Toolbag, Blender & Unreal engine to you skill set to go for generalist

In short, you should do all of these, you need to know every aspect of 3D world, just start from the simple ones and gradually step up.
