Just a fun fact here... that flag ripping off wasn't scripted. The scene was being filmed on a particularly windy day and the prop came loose. Rather than re-shoot the scene, Jackson kind of rolled with it and incorporated it as a nice, not-quite-intentional bit of symbolism in the story. ...In other words, yes, the flag really DID break off at the exact moment to break her spirit.

A few sins have to be removed. Aragorn did describe the hobbits as "they'd look like children to you". Frodo and Samn were hidiing under the cloack given to them by Galadriel, which was magical. The ripping flag was unscripted. Wormtongue wouldn't know how many Uruks were in orthanc, they were bred in pits underground and kept there. etc.

They didn't take Gandalf's staff because they knew there was something wrong with the king and wanted Gandalf to help him. When the others start fighting, those two who decided to let Gandalf keep his staff don't do shit because they know something's going on and the king is not himself.

One of the best things in my opinion was the fake deaths throughout the movies. I watch these films when i was kid and I had no prior knowledge that they wouldn't die. All their comebacks just made the whole story that much more epic.

There were two forces in Helm's Deep. Aragorn had the elves and Theoden had his humans at the upper part of the fortress. The humans raised their bows prematurely and let one go. Aragorn later commands the elves to raise their bows for the first time. There was no second command.

An interesting take on the "Red Sun" line: there is a phenomenon which can cause a sun to turn ever so slighty red tinged, especially at dawn and dusk. That is smoke in the air. I think what legolas recognized was that the bodies of the orcs were being burned and were giving off a lot of smoke, which turned the sunrise red.

6:20 Treebeard also talks about how there are not enough ents for the whole forest anymore, so it's reasonable to assume that this was done pretty quickly by the orcs without any of them noticing in such a huge forest.

Though Lord of the Rings is my favorite movie ever, there is one sin that you missed that even I noticed as a kid when I first watched it. When Merry and Pippin are escaping the Uruk and the horse almost tramples Pippin you can clearly see that Pippin's hands are not bound but in the next shot when you see Pippin rolling away from the horse his hands are clearly tied again so that way he can cut the ropes on an orc blade that is laying on the ground.

I'm one of the few who saw the CinemaSins parody by CollegeHumor, so I'll give you a diplomatic open-minded interpretation and dissection of their video, which I believe, was, as mentioned by one of the commenters above me, a low blow. And CollegeHumor is great, first of all. They've made fun of things I like before as well, and they did it well and smartly. However what they did with Cinemasins was terrible. 1.So first of all, the narrator parodies Jeremy's voice which is quite irrational to begin with, seeing as how irrespective to whether the criticism that CinemaSins does is right or not, his narration style is brilliant and very receptive. So making fun of that skills to begin with, was unprofessional. 2.They are clearly butthurt. Now before CollegeHumor fans start ranting that I'm just saying that, lets go over butthurt. ->A person or group of people who was seriously offended by a statement or some content, and reacted by exaggerating everything they were offended by. ->As comebacks, you stop countering what you were offended by, and start doing person joke tropes, i.e Yo Mama style jokes. In this case, the Yo Mama jokes, were aimed at his "marriage" and his "inability" to have an erection. So clearly you've been so offended that instead of criticising what you have a problem with, you've gone personal. You resorted to the good ol' "nothing that had to do with nothing jokes" . *Applauds* 3. The "I've never made anything" comment. While they were making fun of Jeremy pointing out every tiny flaw in movies, they insinuated that Jeremy has never made anything. Basically debating, "How can you criticise others, when you haven't done anything substantial enough. Sir CollegeHumor, *you've failed to understand what CinemaSins is all about*. Nobody here hates movies, heck, nobody likes movies *more* than these people. The point is these people are trying to bring equality to films. Doesn't matter if you're an "Inception" or a "The Room", *no movie is without sin*. And understand, most of these sins are meant to be *facts*, they're supposed to be *funny*. So get the stick out of your ass, and put it up your mom's. Ain't nothing stopping CinemaSins from making more funny stuff. Has anyone else noticed how the landscape changes when they confront the warg riders? When Legolas first sees them, they are coming over the hill. Next shot, they come over the hill again. When we see him jump up and the other Rohan riders come along, the hill is suddenly exchanged to another, steeper and greener hill.
