You know how Maleficent actually changed the story and gave a new perspective to an old fairy tale? now i'm not saying I like Maleficent, but i might like THIS movie better if they had given the story some new perspective. Like maybe show how the step-mother is only mean because she just lost the man she fell in love with! Not to mention this is the second husband she's lost. She is obviously gonna be kind of bitter and the movie never addresses that. Moreover the step-sisters have no talent and aren't as pretty as Cinderella, and she's not even mean to them because she's so kind of a person. This probably lead to them lashing out because of their own insecurities, but again the movie doesn't show that. Seriously, little looks into the deeper reasons behind why these "villain" characters are so mean could've made this a much better movie.

Some of these sins failed to acknowledge the things that the movie gave as explanation for some of the plot holes, that the animated one and others don't have. For example Cinderella poses the question to the fairy godmother, what will I do if they recognize me at the ball, and the Fairy Godmother puts that into the spell that no one will recognize her so that takes care of that plot hole. There is also a line in the movie where it said the slipper refused to fit any other person in the Kingdom besides Cinderella, which takes away that plot hole of the shoe size. Obviously, it's a fairytale, and not going to be realistic, but I did appreciate that they threw in a couple of lines in this remake that made it slightly more plausible.

Of all the Cinderella variations in movies, my favorite is "Ever After". Sure, it was made in the 90s and you can tell, but it shows a way more realistic side to Cinderella without the magic and such.

This was actually a good movie to me. One of the better live action remakes. It does the original justice and even addresses some of its criticisms. And Lily James and the guy who played the Prince had great chemistry.

I always believed the glass slipper to be magically tailored to be formed to her foot shape and size so thats why it wouldn’t fit anyone else but her, because it was a magic slipper.

Okay, so according to an analysis done on the original story she(Cinderella) actually had an unusually small foot size(about a 5 in today's US system) but when it was written, that was abnormally small for a teen/young adult female. So it is actually possible for her to be the only one with that foot size who wasn't a child.

I really love this movie. People always hate Cinderella for being “weak”. That is blatant victim-blaming. In the original, she was a young child who had just lost her mother and father in a short amount of time. This adult woman who was supposed to have been a mother figure then begins abusing her. I love how this version portrays her relationship with the step-family. Abuse doesn’t always suddenly begin. It is a long escalating process of negative behavior. Over the years, Cinderella was made to believe that her home life was normal as she had been carefully manipulated by the stepmother. Almost like anti-grooming.
