The predator lifted Arnold and examine him because he wasn't sure if he was human or something different. The Predator has hunted and killed many humans but none of them were as dangerous as Arnold, so he wanted to make sure what it was that almost killed him. The predator took off his mask because he saw Arnold as an equal. He would fight him fair to the death not relying on technology. He did the same thing with Billy as well. When Billy marked himself with the knife it was a ritual for a fair duel and predator accepted turning off his camouflage using only their melee weapons to fight.

I always thought it lifted him to judge watcher he was worthy of fighting man to man, because the young predator was in an initiation ceremony to prove his own manhood. Overall the species collected the skulls of aliens they had captured, like people who hunt lions. Their whole culture was based around hunting.

@@aaronmicalowe I know there are more comic stuff out there that goes into detail. But based on movies context I don't think this was a rite of passage. AvP 1 has the more youthful preds who are bigger and make many more mistakes. Avp2 sends in a lone predator to wipe out the aliens who is much older and physically smaller and pulls it off. Based on on information given by woman who says her people disappear during the hot months that is is occurrence that has happen more than 1 year. My guess is this experienced hunter who adapt better than AvP1 but isn't a master like Avp2 predator. This was probably just regular hunting season for him.

@@abc123tiktok We can tell it was a right of passage in the second film. They're both part of the same story. The comics came out just a year after the first film so would have had to have drawn upon the same canon. The comics picked up on the first predator's inexperience, for example, treating a rat as potential prey, and created the story of their culture before the second film was released. The second film would have had to keep within canon or risk upsetting fans.

The reason why Billy cut him self is because it is a Traditional thing before Fighting you do it so your enemy will not be the one to draw first blood

Good take. That also makes sense with the Predator's final words being an echo of Arnold's question of 'What the hell are you?' - whether it was just mimicking his voice or not, the intent of the question still rang true to the situation. The Predator realized he's been defeated, despite all of its technological advantages, by an adversary using the most primitive and primeval of tactics; something he probably felt should have been impossible. I don't think he saw Arnold as an equal, necessarily, just an unusually squirrely adversary worthy of being killed on relatively 'equal' terms. I still don't think he imagined losing ever being a true possibility, however, hence his final question and his bemused laughter as he beep-boops his 'game over' bomb.

So glad to see Ameer!!! I've been wondering how he's been. Hopefully we'll see a lot more of him!. Some vines in the woods have water in them, clean water that doesn't require any filtration. It's a survival tip to know which ones. I know which ones in my area, but i spend a lot of time on the woods. It's a good thing to know. Arnold is an immigrant to America. He became successful in his bodybuilding career them became a successful actor then became a successful governor of California. He married into the Kennedy family but screwed that up by having an affair with the help, and that help had a child.

The team looks so professionally military because several of the cast members are ex-military. Arnold himself served a term in the Austrian military before immigrating to the US, Jesse Ventura had been a navy seal ect. They then were trained as a group by a special forces trainer, often going from training to set to film so they'd always be sweaty.

a one year mandatory term is what Arnold served. The guy who was Poncho served in the infantry in Vietnam. The Mexican jungle was cold and required heat lamps to be on all time. It was rough terrain

You guys should watch Prey at some point. It's a prequel to Predator, set in the 1700s. Predator had a lot of sequels, but Prey is the first one I feel got close to being as good as the first one. Maybe even a little better. The original is a very simple story, but very well executed. The entire first act of the movie is setup to make it clear how capable and dangerous Dutch and his team are, to make the Predator all the more threatening when it starts shredding them to pieces. Prey has a much more complex story, with much more complex characters, but it's still the same Predator goodness.
