Addi FlexiFlips (called CraSyTrios in Europe) are a great option for those who want to knit socks and other small circumferences in the round but aren't a fan of double pointed needles. It takes the best of straight needles and circular needles and combines them into one.

Yes, and I like them, however at the time I had not made the transition to stainless as I was in my love of bamboo. I thought I had ordered US 1 and they came as 1-1/2. And the gauge was not the same. So I get them out and admire them, have played around with them and made a tube. But with socks the yarn and the needles need to produce the fabric and my need is special, I am making socks for support for my ankles as both have been broken at separate times. I've found now that needles which do not bend, are better as then I get the firmer fabric my ankles love. Question for you, what metal are the Addi Flexi-Flips made of? Are they surgical stainless steel? I have a sensitivity to nickel-plated, gives me a rash. Thanks in advance for your reply.

@@courag1 I checked the website but it doesn't list what they are made of. Perhaps if you sent them an email they'd be able to tell you.

Nerdy Knitting Okay, I'll do that. I'm rather thinking now they are not stainless steel as that is a featured if they have it, they tell you. But with my ChioaGoo Mini Twists Red kit, I can assemble the equivalent. But my version has 2" flexible cables and they work for heels and toes. In the land of all things knitting, I'd still love the Flexi-Flips as I am not a fan of double points. I've seen that HiyaHiya was an equivalent product, if it weren't for the allergy, the HiyaHiyas are sharper than the ChiaGoos in most things, I'd Spring for them as I adore knitting and wearing socks I've made. I have sore spots from my ChiaoGoos and generally now use my fingernails to advance the yarn against the tips. If my callouses were on my left hand, I'd take up guitar. LOL. I have used double points (4 & 5) and recently learned of the addi flxiflips; the few comments I have seen about them are all negative with no particular explanation of why; your video, as always is very informative and thorough; soon I will try them; thank you very much for your good work...best of luck

Thank you! I think they are one of those things that you either love or hate - and it might depend on how you feel about double pointed needles. People who love DPNs don't seem to love FlexiFlips. For those that only tolerate DPNs, they seem more open to these types of needles.

Neat video, I had wondered how those flexi needles worked. I like DPN but only after the first 2 or 3 rows are on! I normally knit top down, this is why! Over 1000 subs, nice!

I agree - DPNs are so much easier after you have a bit of work on them. It's the only time I like wood needles because sometimes a slick yarn and slippery needles are a terrible combination when you're starting with a small circumference!

My Addi Flexi flips are so much longer than yours. Maybe that is why I feel they are cumbersome. Mine are 12” long. Are the shorter ones easier?

I didn't know they made them that long! I think those would be great for things like sleeves but I'm not sure I'd like them for socks - the size I have are a good length for sock knitting.
