Aim To perform a systematic review examining (i) whether MC status influences women’s preference for sexual activity and the reasons for this, and (ii) whether women prefer MC for their sons. Methods PRISMA-compliant searches were conducted of PubMed, Google Scholar, Embase, and the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. Articles that met the inclusion criteria were rated for quality using the SIGN system. Results Database searches identified 29 publications with original data for inclusion, including 22 for aim (i) and 4 of these and 7 others pertaining to aim (ii). In the overwhelming majority of studies, women expressed a preference for the circumcised penis. The main reasons given for this preference were better appearance, better hygiene, reduced risk of infection, and enhanced sexual activity, including vaginal intercourse, manual stimulation, and fellatio. In studies that assessed mothers’ preference for MC of sons, health, disease prevention, and hygiene were cited as major reasons for this preference. Cultural differences in preference were evident among some of the studies examined. Nevertheless, a preference for a circumcised penis was seen in most populations regardless of the frequency of MC in the study setting. Conclusion Women’s preferences generally favor the circumcised penis for sexual activity, hygiene, and lower risk of infection. The findings add to the already well-established health benefits favoring MC and provide important sociosexual information on an issue of widespread interest. Firstly how can you say its more attractive? people in countries where uncut is the norm (which is 70% of the world) will say that uncut is more attractive that usually just depends on where you are from, for me I think cut scarred dicks look unattractive. Secondly ask a doctor here about it and they'll say its completely unnecessary and if anything it's unhealthy to remove parts of your body that you are born with. How many skin folds does a vagina have vs the 1 skin fold of a penis? American logic - instead of teaching children to take 5 seconds to wash a specific part of their body, just permenantely remove a part of your anatomy?

That's understandable, although if you lived in a different country your opinion on the aesthetics of them would probs be different. It's perfectly fine if people want to get it done to their own body, however, if you had to make a decision to remove apart of a defenceless person's anatomy(routine baby circ.) without their consent, wouldn't you feel guilty? It is just a cultural difference, but is it morally right to remove someones anatomy for no reason? Men here would feel just as violated about it as you would about FGM

you're an idiot, female circumcision is a cultural thing too so judging by your logic should it be allowed? I'm not talking back alley rusty-razor kind of deal but in a medical setting an also not talking the crazy FGM types infibulation etc, I'm talking removing female foreskin (clitoral hood) or labia minora something similar to male circumcision, plenty of grown up women doing labia plasty or hoodectomy etc, vulva has more skin folds than an intact penis so cutting those folds will be more hygienic right? see how stupid you can be?

@@LiamDH3021 In Ontario, it was 40% around 2008-10. To my knowledge, more recent data have not been released. Most likely, the rate has been slowly falling because Canadian socialised medecine does not pick up the cost, and because the Canadian Medical Association does not recommend the procedure.

It hurts a bit for somewhere between the first days to the first week or two. Take some ibuprofen to ease the pain.
