Me too. This is fun and painful to watch. You can't even describe the vibe that was mid to late 90's Phish. It just proves that vibrations exist. Phish was nothing but high vibrations and truly drew good people in. This what many of the people in this doc are describing (while it was actually happening to them in real time) - I was there, I could feel it. I was only a teenager, but we all knew that something special was going on. I still catch the occasional show and I always will, but there is nothing like this period of Phish. We were lucky to have experienced it! Pharmer's Almanac, AOL Phish Bowl, the Clifford Ball MTV special, "Tracking" - Man, what a time. I was front row at NYE 2000. I had to pee in a Coke bottle. Thanks for making this doc which actually captures the feeling of that time.

This is such a great little artifact for a newer head like myself who didn't get to experience the 1.0 era live. Funnily enough, plenty of similarities in how people describe the scene. I'll take as much of this stuff as I can get so long as 2020 tour is done for.

Everything about this smells of nugs and patchouli. This is the era when I always caught as many shows as I could when they played in my area (Philly, NY, NJ). 12/11/99 being my ultimate Phish experience. I went to Big Cypress and my final run of shows of that era were in Albany Fall 2000. It got a little too bigtime for my tastes at that point and I think the hiatus was needed. I have seen them a handful of times since they have been back but im no longer 20 years old so I don't rage like I used to. Funny seeing the meatstick dance. That was the corniest shit ever. Thank the gods of succinctness that some genius bestowed the name wookie upon the type of people that everyone in this video struggles so hard to describe. Everyone trying so hard to be cool by being into obscure and experimental music, or whatever is their schema of good musical taste, is high-octane nostalgia for me. I don't understand the patchwork corduroy "hippie uniform" but you will get no judgment from me. I saw a few familiar faces in the crowd but I will have to rewatch to see if I can find myself or anyone I know in the background. I don't remember noticing any video cameras back then but my mind was often on many other trips. I also didn't go to Star Lake after Oswego so I'm definitely not in closing credits. Immense gratitude for the blast from the past.

This is awesome. Remembering late 90s mentality and how special and important Phish was at the time. The scene has changed but it’s still a great scene and certainly the best available. The realness is there.

Shaun McGrath just went to my first 2 phish shows this past year, been listening since 2017 but never really got it until I saw them. It's definitely the best scene rn, although I've ran into my share of shitty people especially on the floor, but the majority are legit.

The entire music scene was in a rare place where so much music was in the air. Allman Brothers and Government Mule introduced Warren Haynes and Allen Woody to the world. WSP, Phish. I happen to be from a little place in North Carolina. Winston-Salem NC and a little place called Ziggy's was in my hometown. The only place comparable was CBGB's. Any month's calendar in the 90's is unbelievable to look at now. In hindsight that was the normal to me at the time. It was a magical time and I was fortunate that I was a music fan and lived through it

Ah, brother Brennan. This came up by the algorithm, and saw it was your channel. I remember hitchhiking from Green Acres to the Creek the day before your wedding with Wichy and the filmmaker. I never felt like being interviewed, but its a great moment in time and space we shared documented, and was cool to briefly see Wichy and I in the back of that pickup truck. Love from Cambodia. Happy to have found this. A friend told me about it maybe 2 years ago, and I am finally committed to watching it. 1999 summer is the one tour I did in it's entirely, save for Europe '98, which was only 8 shows, and technically I didn't do all of that because I skipped the set at the Midtfyns Festival. Did most of Fall 1999 until Normal, IL. Summer 1999 though, those 20 or 21 shows I did all solo with no riders until I picked up a dude I had met in Europe at Oswego. It was an absolutely epic, yet profoundly exhausting experience. Ironically, just yesterday I moved a framed picture I have of lightning striking behind a packed lawn at Antioch, TN during 'You Enjoy Myself' so that it is more prominently displayed. To this day I believe the band was controlling the weather. Thank you Mike Mack! And thank you for sharing this!

12:10...the Phellowship. Amazing. Just, awesome to see this cat promoting a group that no longer uses drugs and alcohol. Never heard of them. Glad I just did. I would be one of them. One too many shroom/mescalin or Lucy trips, while on narcs, at shows. I still see the dream everytime I see deer creek, drugs no longer are necessary to reach that joyful, beautiful place which is what the music is all about anyway! Lol rock on brother
@illuminotmereloaded6896
@illuminotmereloaded6896 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah man, the Phellowship is and has always been legit. Very kind people. The thing I remember most about the Phellowship, other than the handful of good conversations I had with their members, was that kids would use their table as a meet up spot inside the venues before, at set break, or after the show because the Christian people at the drug free table were a tiny minority among all the chaos making it a strategic and convenient place for meet ups. Part of me no doubt found this amusing, but another part of me always felt like it was a bit disrespectful to the Phellowship and what it represented. I wish you and everyone in this documentary well, including my 21 year old self. Peace

That's super interesting and awesome. Shows how big the scene was, while other examples paint the opposite picture. I never knew of it's existence until a year or two back, and do not have a clear memory of these guys filming, though we had to have crossed paths, as I did this entire tour. I used to buy VHS tapes of Dead Shows on Phish lot. Had a Europe 72 Denmark show, and 12/31/78 at Winterland on VHS before it was one of the From the Vault releases. Big Cypress. Nuff said. The world caught up in the Y2K nonevent while we were in a sort of paradise of our own creation. Once in a lifetime. Cheers!

I usually eat just enough Hallucinogenics that not much matters besides Treys insane Tone and Phish's mind numbing improvisational jams. Although about 3-4 times a show I definitely fall in love with "the most beautiful hippie girl Ive ever seen in my life"...

Oh shit! This was the year that Mickey Hart played at Nelson Ledges after Phish at Columbus. That was really cool. Only a few hundred people there. Said hi to Mickey. He was very pleasant. Anyway, the ghetto of lot that homeslice was talking about, we used to call that 'The Yo Row'. At Nelson Ledges...Oh my God, I even remember the dog's name. These Yo Row kids with their raspy voices and boomboxes were up on the cliffs and one guy was even throwing his poor dog, yes of course it was a pit bull mix, off the ledge and into the water. Locks Dog was the dog's name. If you are in here and remember that, I am judging you. That was not cool, and I hope you realize as much by now.

I was also on this full tour. Wanted to watch and see if I could see myself walk by but the same 8 people talking bored me to death. I too had a video camera the whole time actually. Posted video on here from Oswego and from Florida NYE. Think if you click my name you can find them. Most viewed videos I have up pretty sure. I tried a couple times walking down the middle of shakedown with the camera. Each time almost ended up with people wanting to fight. Thinking I must be a cop or paid by the cops to do it. Half would smile and wave, maybe 3/4, some would turn away or say threats as they walked by. I was 18 with long hair and didn’t look anything like an undercover. Haha. Oh well. Was the most fun I ever had that summer. Only full tour I ever did. Shows were so good and was just so great on so many levels. To be young again. Life goes by way too Fing fast. It’s not a cliche. It’s true

@@MikeP2055 not sure what chowds means unless related to chowder users?!? Chompers Is more of a term for those maybe on a lot of ecstasy or uppers and jawing and chatty and not necessarily paying attention to the music as much as the party etc. Imo it’s rocknroll party hard, do your thing, and don’t impede others too much and help as much as you can when you can. Chompers gonna chomp!! Again Glass houses and stones imo. Just a “jam” band ego trip thing or way to be cool and then hate on others. Panic fans get called chompers by phish kids etc as examples of origins etc in the last 5-10 years. Just my take on the term. If you go to enough shows eventually you’re going to chomp. 140 plus widespread Panic shows plus hundreds of others. Eventually you’re going to chomp. Just now getting into phish after 20 plus years of not digging into them or not really enjoying them and now i need to tell my panic Familia about my new predicament. Hahaha.
