This is a misunderstanding caused by the language barrier. For anyone that hasn't noticed, Ciryl uses the word "knockdown" to refer to knockouts, he told Bisping in his last interview that if Francis wants to win he'd have to "knock me down", so he wasn't denying that he was dropped by the kick, he was denying that he was put to sleep.

The fact he admitted Francis hurt him during press like this says a lot to me, that he knows he has no room for mistake and that if he makes it Francis will put him out + he knows just a little of the power

Ciryl is saying Francis had to be warned about sparring too hard instead of focusing on technique.

I love both of these guys. They're both really nice guys with really interesting back stories. I don't want to see either one of them lose but I can't wait to see this fight.

I actually see 2 friends up there and having a tough time getting upset at each other. This is all due to Francis old coach and Ciryls current coach. It's put separation between them. I hope after they knuckle each other they get back to that solid friendship. See its important to both men

The clip in a nutshell: Cyril: "you hurt me, you didn't knock me down" Francis: "you were knocked out" Dana: "this whole story is a great story"

So when hard sparring between and someone lands a big shot we used to always stop and let the guy who got hit take a breather. It doesn't necessarily mean they got dropped but a lot of times that's kind of the instinct. Big head kick or some hook that they didnt see coming and let's say they get slightly wobbled and maybe get on a knee. You stop the sparring session immediately and 100% of the time the coach makes sure everyone is ok. There is absolutely no reason to continue sparring because someone might take unnecessary damage from both sides. The wobbled might be emotional and throw heat and hurt the other guy. It's just human nature. Or the wobbled guy can get hit again and its these repeated head injuries that shorten careers. This is how it plays out from quite a few years of sparring. So as you can see it's a grey area. Francis can say hey i landed a kick, he went down on his knee and then had to go home. He might consider that a knockout (tko if you will). Ciryl can also be like look you hurt me and coach decided I'm not sparring for the rest of the day and I respected coach's decision. Both are right. It's not always clear cut black and white. Either way sparring between teammates is sacred in a way and should never be released unless both sides agree and also shouldn't be talked about. In this instance i put the blame on whoever released or talked about sparring first.

This was caused by some simple misunderstanding but I just love how two giants of the sports doesnt bark as loud as the flyweight fighters

I love how Gane refers to Ngannou as “big brother.” Shows the respect for Francis that he is speaking of.

This is what sport is supposed to be. They respect each other, and even after their fight, they still will. Great personalities.

There is just something about when the fighters are respectful to one another that I enjoy. Maybe cuz I couldnt do that the perform at my highest level. But boy do I admire it and enjoy it. Kudos to both men.

First off I gotta say I can really get down with the level of professionalism they were able to maintain even while they were picking on each other a little bit. Twas a nice change of pace from the usual schoolyard jawing we've come to expect with these pre fight press events. Proper Gentlemen they maintained a highly entertaining and civil conversation start to finish. Now having gotten that out of the way I'd like to switch gears here. As my Great Uncle Chael would say "I give you all that to bring you this..." Boys I can't wait to see them respect the hell out of eachother in a full pace match free of the mental burden from having to consciously pull their punches and worrying about letting slip the beautifully executed high kick to the temple. Nobody is in danger of getting accidently hurt tonight!
