The free and open societies of the West are under threat - not from a foreign invader, but from illiberalism within. The retreat to offence-free safe spaces, the censorship from cancel culture, the ignorance of echo chambers, and the toxicity of identity politics are all symptoms of a siege on liberalism. Young people, in particular, hold increasingly illiberal views.
Konstantin Kisin is a British-Russian political commentator and comedian who co-hosts the TRIGGERnometry ‪@triggerpod‬ podcast. He is author of An Immigrant’s Love Letter to the West. Last year, he addressed the Oxford Union with a speech on Woke Culture, and recently spoke at the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship conference in London. Konstantin represents a new genre of public intellectual: he is virtually ignored by the mainstream media, yet he is overwhelmingly popular on various social media platforms. His podcast, TRIGGERnometry, has almost 850,000 subscribers and he is a considerable presence on X.
Glenn Fahey is director of education at the Centre for Independent Studies, where his research covers all areas of education policy and practice. Glenn is a regular writer on education for the Australian Financial Review and commentator across all major news media. Prior to joining CIS, Glenn has held research and policy positions at the Centre for Education Research and Innovation (OECD), Institute for Public Policy and Governance (UTS), and Australian Treasury.

If anything, KK is so mainstream and centrist he is as bland as wallpaper paste. KK never notices the extremism in governments that has lead to the rightful stance of many in backlash. In KKs world everything can be blamed on 'woke', which is a concept only 5 seconds old and describes nothing of the deliberate desecration of a persons right merely to exist be elitist despots as old as humanity itself. That KK is now seen as at the forefront of modern thought is absolutely terrifying

A lot of it has got to do more with being a product of your environment then age. He's Russian born, he has had a taste of a different life, his parents have told him about their lives. It gives you clarity. Now he lives in the west. One foot in both worlds. Plus a lot more information accessible now if you know where to look - the days of MSM being your only choice are over. The interviewer is wrong in stating that immigration has created in Australia the most successful "multicultural society" in the world. Konstantin straightens him out by speaking of "multiethnic" (as oppised to "multicultural") society as the past success of countries like Australia, the UK, and the United States. If mass illegal multicultural immigration is allowed to persist without insistence on the immigrants' adoption of the cultural values of the existing society's ideals of cultural assimilation, those countries will be subjected to societal chaos and destruction. That is happening in the US and UK before our very eyes.
@billythewhizz8077
@billythewhizz8077 2 ай бұрын
I like and respect KK, but I think he’s wrong about a multiethnic society. Ethnicity includes race and religion. Both these factors stop a multiethnic societies succeeding. In the UK the two groups that cause the most trouble are black people and the muswims (I can spell just to stop this post being taken down). One group is violent and refuses to integrate because of its race and culture the other is violent and refuses to integrate because of its race and religion. For a multiethnic society to succeed the ethnic mix needs to be same race and same basic religion. Because when people look the same, speak the same language, share a similar religion then they assimilate to the host culture whilst still retaining complimentary elements of their own culture. They intermarry more often and thus become a contributing member of the host society. I sometimes wish humans were better able to mix but the disaster caused by multiculturalism in my country over the past 60 years has proven otherwise. So it’s about time the liberal left was finally forced to admit they screwed up and then we can change the law and deport the problems and import the solutions while having more indigenous British babies so in 25 years we’ve got our safe prosperous country back under our control for our children to enjoy. Going to take courage to get there though.💪

He'd be the last to let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

Teach your kids and younger people in your families to think for themselves, to think critically, to be comfortable about asking questions, not just with others but also of themselves and being openly honest with their retorts. People can shame me for my opinions, that's fine, but the biggest shame for me would be lying to appease others _feelings_ and delusions and to myself, there's no real progress in that.

Multiculturalism has demonstrably been a failure here and everywhere it has been permitted when allowed without constraints. Immigration by European Christians like the Greeks and Italians following WWII worked well. Although they were from another country, they were not from an alien culture. They believed in the same God and did not seek to replace Australian culture and laws with theirs. So they integrated, while maintaining subtle cultural differences that increased societal diversity. Those days are long gone. Now Australia has sewn the seeds of its own inevitable destruction through the pretence that all cultures are equal and useful to our liberal capitalist democracy. They demonstrably are not. Some cultures are isolationist, corrosive, divisive and sometimes malevolent. Several major European countries now realise this to their loss and regret. Meanwhile, our governments shy away from acknowledging the truth, seeking to leverage it to their political advantage.

The problem is the media lie and ruin their credibility with everyone and then people make the incorrect (but understandable) deduction that everything they say is the opposite. However if you have watched Trump for decades like some you would see that while their individual stories are often exaggerated or false, the overall impression is correct. Even Konstantin has fallen into this trap.

The western countries who are receiving these immigrants or migrants have to apply strict policies to integrate these people according to our western values and culture. It's not going to happen automatically. I came from a third world country to integrate with the western values and culture that respond to my healthy way of life as a woman. I brought up my children in the same way. I am worried that if we continue on this nonsense path, women will have to go back to home and be locked in there. Love you Constantin and admire your capacity to articulate the truth.

If we don't start dealing with the rubbish our children are being taught there will be nothing left of the 'lucky' country we have taken for granted for far too long. I do not agree on the young not being able to buy a home. I and several friends brought our homes in our 20's and my niece of 22 has just brought hers on the same principle. No holidays/no dining put unless some else paying or family event/ no pub/ no buying more clothes unless necessary/ sticking with our job/ renting out rooms . No one needs 10 pairs of shoes. Dyed hair junk food frizzy drinks . Tell them to sacrifice a but they won't.

It heavily depends on income and location. If you take the median income and count it against the average house with the current average interest rate, you see that it's indeed waaaaaay harder to buy a house than it was ever before.

The problem is also saving up while paying rent, most young people spend more on rent than fizzy drinks or hair dye. Although once you have given up on owning property you might spend frivolously as a habit reinforcing the problem.

While I appreciate Konstantin's analogy of 'spousal abuse', it is only a part-truth. Another part is that Australian businesses that were making profits abandoned Australia because they could make bigger profits elsewhere, and whole regions - the La Trobe Valley, for example - were largely ruined as governments sold of public assets, and the communities' livelihoods with them, for quick savings. Much more could be said, but the point is that the 'spouse' was ready to cheat and abandon the home at the first opportunity. 'Proudly designed in Australia' , but made where labour is cheapest. does not encourage patriotism amongst the jobless.

We many apathetic beneficiaries of Western Civilization should aspire to the ideal of progress and societal improvement through critical introspection and constructive action, but as Konstantin presciently articulates, the Woke Left has engaged us in self loathing and national suicide. If we in the "silent majority" fail to push back, we will all be subjected to civilizational chaos and a reversion to a stone age quagmire ruled by the worst of subhuman motivations. Konstantin's voice of reason is the flickering candle of warning in an anarchist whirlwind. Heed him, or live in the future darkness!

Building more houses for immigrants we don't want. The housing problem comes from unchecked immigration and the property industry skewing the values by buying up everything they can to rent out or for serviced accommodation, pricing everyone on lower incomes out of the market. And the irony is those same people end up paying extortionate rents, more than à mortgage would cost them, because their home is part of someone's property portfolio, paying for a lavish lifestyle at the expense of those least able to afford it.

Postmodernist tenets- 1) a general critique of Western institutions and knowledge. A critique of liberalism. (Kuznar 2008:78). 2) a focus upon power relations and hegemony, (often rebranded as “structuralism”, “post structuralism” etc.) 3) an argument against scientific method and evaluation (fundamentally anti- Enlightenment) 4) a critique of “metanarratives”(counter-storytelling. All history, literature, religion is wrong/biased) 5) a questioning of reality and representation (there is no truth, it's all fake news), 6) the application of literary analysis to all “phenomena”, (words and images as weapons, qualitative analysis over quantitative. Such as votes) 7) an elevation of text and language as the fundamental phenomena of existence (social media and print as the battleground)
