Panel members were: Rosa Bosch, Kate Ogborn, Lisa Marie Russo & Lisa K. Crosato. Moderated by Paul DuBois (BIOS BELOW).
This panel explored the challenges that female filmmakers currently face in the film industry. The panelists discussed their backgrounds and how they may have dealt with prejudice and sexism in their careers and how they feel the film industry is currently evolving today in terms of becoming more inclusive of women.

LISA K. CROSATO
Lisa is an Actress, Writer and Producer, based in Los Angeles and originally from Vancouver, Canada. After working in several independent films, Lisa turned to writing and producing to fuel her creativity. Her first written, produced and starred in film, KENMORE AVE was a hit at Cannes and is currently distributed by Shorts TV. She produced the award-winning feature length documentary FROM THE MIDST OF PAIN and Lisa produced and developed the screenplay on Jean Pierre Bekolo’s acclaimed film, LES SAIGNANTES. Her first screenplay XXL which has won several awards, including a female empowerment award. She has recently finished a screenplay about famed serial killer, Sheila Labarre. Lisa successfully launched “City of Angels Women’s Film Festival” in 2019, with the goal of empowering and connecting women in the film industry and showcasing extraordinary films made by women, both in Los Angeles and globally.
ROSA BOSCH
Rosa's career started in festivals (AFI Fest, London). She was a founding partner of Tequila Gang and Managing Director of HBO Films, where she handled titles including ELEPHANT. Her producing credits include Guillermo Del Toro’s THE DEVIL’S BACKBONE, Wim Wender’s BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB, CALLE 54 and Terry Gilliam’s LOST IN LA MANCHA. As producer’s representative she has been involved in titles such as, AMORES PERROS and CORPO CELESTE. She is member of the AMPAS (Oscars) international committee.
KATE OGBORN
Kate is an award winning film and television producer and executive producer whose film credits include the multi award winning UNDER THE SKIN, starring Samantha Morton, THIS IS ENGLAND, THE DEEP BLUE SEA, THE SPIRIT OF ’45 and ABANDONED GOODS. Prior to running her own production company, Fly Film with Lisa Marie Russo, Kate was Head of Television at Revolution Films. She co-produced Tony Grisoni’s adaptation of David Peace’s crime novels, THE RED RIDING TRILOGY, and produced Samantha Morton’s directorial debut, THE UNLOVED, which won the BAFTA for Best Single Drama in 2010.
In 2017 Kate moved into producing long form drama. She produced THE END OF THE F***ING WORLD for Clerkenwell Films, Channel 4 and Netflix which won the 2018 RTS Award for Best Drama Series and was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Drama Series.
Most recently Kate produced THE NORTH WATER for See Saw for BBC2, BBC Studios and CBC, adapted from the novel by Ian McGuire and directed by Andrew Haigh and starring Jack O’Connell, Colin Farrell and Stephen Graham. Kate is currently producing LIFE AFTER LIFE for House Productions for BBC1 and BBC Studios, adapted from Kate Atkinson’s novel by Bash Doran and directed by John Crowley.
LISA MARIE RUSSO
In 2009, Lisa Marie and Kate Ogborn launched the independent production company Fly Film. Her documentary producer credits include Ken Loach’s The Spirit of ’45, Gillian Wearing’s Self Made and Andrew Kotting’s Swandown. She was executive producer on Hockney and The Deep Blue Sea, and prior to Fly, on Terence Davies’ Of Time And The City. Fly also executive produced 72 short films by young people for Screen South Ignition Random Acts Network. Lisa Marie was the BFI Doc Society Fund Executive for three years (2018-2021), before moving into a consultancy role. Credits at the Fund include Locked In (Bafta), The Nightcrawlers (Emmy), Country Girl (Grierson). In September 2021, five titles have received Grierson nominations, including Polystyrene: I am a Cliche.
PAUL DUBOIS
Paul DuBois is an experienced producer, facilitator and business coach. Starting as a performer in Canada, Paul moved to the UK where he founded an award-winning international theatre company. Over a decade ago, Paul moved into film starting as a Co-Producer on the feature DARK SIGNAL (Netflix), a horror/thriller Exec. Produced by Neill Marshal. Focussing now primarily on short films, Paul has produced many female-led productions including the award-winning shorts JAS by Alice Trueman, READY OR NOT by Eleanor Dolan (part of C4s Random Acts) and DING-DING, NEXT by McKenzie Alexander & India Plummer and commissioned by the BBC/Screen South, UK.
