I’ve been trying to remember what this movie was for 11 years. 11 YEARS!

I loved the book but I'm really mad that this trailer just straight up tells you "It's an underground city that they have to get out of". I remember the book having a lot of vague mystery over the origins of the city to the point where they literally forgot that it was built underground, and it was a while before that was revealed. This trailer just blatantly throws it at you immediately instead of emphasizing the mystery and adventure of the characters discovering it along with the audience

I remember watching this movie when I was just a kid. For some reason it kinda traumatized and left a mark in my mind in the end. I couldn't remember the whole story anymore and even what it's name was for so many years. And then I watched Little Women which starred Saoirse Ronan. She's such s great actress. I searched up her other movies because I also remember seeing her in Hanna, and The Lovely Bones. She's been in so many great movies. And I saw City of Ember on the list. And I realized that it was that movie from my childhood. And it just felt so nostalgic watching this again.

I was a business consultant working for RandomHouse. I was given the book (pre-publication) to share with my 10 year old daughter. We loved it. Bought a hard cover version when it came out and read it again...bought a paperback a couple of years later and read it again. Saw the move in theaters. Bought the DVD a year later. It was a beautiful way to connect with my daughter...such a powerful story. I felt that I grew up with my daughter through this story and Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, His Dark Materials, and Dune. Powerful stories that allow you to talk about important values. As an adult, read this or watch this with your kid. But be prepared to answer some very tough questions.

Oh my god this movie is one of my biggest childhood memories. As of today I'm 15 but I will never spent those saturday nights spent watching this.

I watched the movie as a kid and i really liked it. But all these comments are making me feel as if I shouldn't like it and I should read the book.

This is low key a great movie and could have a sequel that could be one of the worlds best movies ever created if a lot of funding went into it. This movie reminds me of Flushed away and the under ground city idea is amazing and all the props and designing is outstanding, I love the detail in this movie.

i feel like its rare to find movies like this today, and its rather sad.

I just remembered how I used to watch this with my parents when I was like 5 or something. And suddenly, out of nowhere I remembered the scene with the waterwheels and all the nostalgia flooded me, I remembered the thrill of this, this scene was my favourite. And although I didnt feel the same thrill watching it again now, it surely was worth it, coming back

This movie was so good and the book too! Getting this steam punk vibe from it too which I love!

I remember watching the trailer for this movie over and over on my Horton Hears a Who DVD, very intrigued by it. That Summer, my town's movie theatre actually ran it as a free matinee movie and I went to it and loved it. I also rented it a few times afterwards. I'd definitely buy it on DVD and watch it again if I found a copy somewhere.

I remember my grade 9 English class read this book and we had to answer all sorts of questions. But some people just watched the movie and answered with that and the teacher brought this up in his lesson. Saying that part of the test was to see who would read and who would watch. I read.. loved the book. Have never seen this movie but from what I hear it's nothing like the book

This movie brings back so many memories. Year 5 camp, this movie is new, and it’s the only DVD in the small ass cabin. There was a Samsung CRT, so I did the deed and shoved the disc into the DVD player you had to pray that it would work. It worked, and that was all we watched, with the crappy popcorn at the cafeteria

I've was looking for this movie!!! I watched it when I was a kid and remember being scared and excited at the same time. All i could remember from the movie was people living underground girl wanting to be a mail deliverer and boy ended up working in sewer thing. The 2 wanted to find a way to the surface and that theres a monster in the sewer. Honestly surprised I remember that much since I was like 7 when I watched it. So happy finally found it gona go watch it with some friends!!!!

Just discovered this book in a used book store. Loved it and immediately wanted it to be made into a tv series.

I read the book in 4th grade and i remembered some of the plot and that there was a lightbulb on the cover until only like a week ago. I've seen the movie first before reading the book. I believe that they just said it directly that Ember is an underground city because it is obvious to the setting and the lights. And I think the highlight and the thrill of the movie is HOW WILL THEY ESCAPE that place? When I first watched the movie, (I haven't watched the trailer yet) I already realized that it was an underground city. What excites me is that how will they go out there before the city crumbles.
