How to Make your own Wine from Store Bought Grape Juice at Home using Bread Yeast! Yes, you can make wine at home with bread yeast. Can you use other yeasts? Sure, but they won't work the same in this exact recipe! It's science.
No, this is not "inmate wine" or "prison wine" or Pruno or anything close to that. This is just a basic red wine that anyone can brew at home. Before you start thinking this is any less "real wine" than others... what is wine made from? Grape juice, skins, yeast, water and sometimes added sugar. Take the skins out, it's white wine. Sure, ours will be red because the juice makers add dye (even though it's not in the ingredients!), but in the end, it's the same process as the big time wineries. Concord Grape isn't the most commonly used varietal for wine, but there are some that use it, and this wine tastes a lot like those brands, Manischewitz comes to mind. The flavors are fruity, sweet and light. A friend described it as "Grape juice with alcohol", and she loves it.
We made a page all about what GEAR you need for Brewing, have a look: www.city-steading.com/gear
Using Aldi grape juice and bread yeast with some plain white sugar, watch Brian show you how to make the wine his friends call, "the best wine I've ever had". No kidding.
It comes out sweet, not dry, and it's ready to drink in just a couple of weeks! You gotta try this one.
Part Two: • Tasting Cheap Wine - B...
Finale: • Sweet Red Wine Finale....
__________________________________________________________
Things you will need:
* 1 Gallon Carboy with Airlock and stopper: amzn.to/2vFExTR
* My black funnel! amzn.to/2MHFyRP
* Hydrometer amzn.to/2vHOjEJ
* Star San Sanitizer amzn.to/2McDzsy
* AIRLOCKS! amzn.to/2BdMxjQ
* Fleischmann's Yeast: amzn.to/2pFTgL6
This recipe makes a gallon of sweet red wine.
1 gallon of grape juice with no preservatives (we use Aldi's juice)
2 1/2 cups of plain white sugar
1 teaspoon of yeast
2 weeks
Yeah, I know, we made a 20 minute video explaining how to add sugar and yeast to grape juice. It's more entertaining our way.

Just bottled my first white wine, using this recipe. After racking, I let it set for about a week and a half and it cleared up beautifully. The taste was awesome, clarity was beautiful and it finished at 13.13%. I'm now hooked. I have a simple mead that has been fermenting for about 4 weeks. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Thanks for the great videos and simple recipes!

@@randpmagnuson6711 If you want a low sugar wine, use a little bit less sugar or a higher alcohol tolerance yeast to make sure it ferments dry. The recipe in this video creates a very sweet desert wine type thing.

First time wine attemp, using welches grape juice. Og 1.100 and after 15 days at 65-70* we thought it quit working and racked into another gal bottle. Hydrometer 1.060. Thought it done but started working again. Will alcohol % increase or will it stay at 1.060?

When I brewed from Grape Juice I made my own airlocks. My setup was fermenting in 2-liter pop bottles from store brand pop, which also made sports water bottles with tops with compatible threads. Anyway, the locks were those sports tops with plastic tubing glued in placed onto the pop bottles and the other end went into the water bottles. Simple but it worked.

If you only have 1 funnel, you can add the sugar first, then go ahead and add half the juice. The juice washes out any residue sugar out of your funnel.

Drank all 4 bottles of this over a 3 day period this weekend turned out pretty good. The wine finished at around 11.29%. I drank like a bottle and a half last night and smoked a few blunts with it, I was truly floating. Made another batch Thursday when I bottled using a wine yeast but about to make some more tonight and going back to the bread yeast in the fear my other batch is going to end up being to dry. Thanks again for sharing your know how.

I was inspired by this video, so I bought some airlocks and a cheap jug of apple juice. I had some redstar bread yeast from a couple years back when I was gonna attempt this but never did. However I got excited hearing people supportive of this way of making wine instead of all the wine snobs saying it's "junk" if not done their way. I was shocked how fast the yeast started to make the air lock bubble which was about 10-15 mins after I pitched it. I however did use some wine nutrients a day after it started to bubble which turned my air lock in to a geyser. Then proceeded to burn through sugar in 4 days including the first. It's still the 4th day and I'm drinking it and I'm shocked just how strong it is. Thanks for the inspiration.

Tonight I decided to combine this recipe with wine tannin, and yeast nutrient. I did it in a 6.5 gallon bucket and ended up adding WAAAYYYYY too much sugar. But thanks to the knowledge I've learned (mostly from this channel) I was able to sanitize a 3 gallon fermenter quickly and add water. My OG went from a ridiculous 1.146 to 1.112. My original gravity was higher than yours 1.122 and the finished gravity was 1.030 making my abv 12.075. It ended being a semisweet delicious tasting wine. It’s exactly what we wanted. The taste test was done when racking and the wine is a bit cloudy and I hope it’ll clear with a little time. If not....... we’re drinking it anyway. Thank you guys so much for your videos. 🍷

20 years ago when I was in high school I tried this in a smaller scale. A 2 liter bottle. I used aquarium tubing from a cork and into another bottle filled with water to allow gas release. My mother finds it and was very angry about it, thinking it was 'pot paraphernalia'. I never was a weed smoker but I remember trying to calm her down saying it was to ferment grape juice- like that was any better at 17 years old.

Amazing thank you Brian and Derika. I have experimented twice with your teaching of oxygenating the wine must, I did not realise that you had to do such a thing. I first put a kilo of sugar in the DJ, I added water and shook it, I added red grape concentrate and more water and shook it again, I did the same as I added the lemon juice, tea tannin, oak shavings and lastly when I pitched the yeast and added water with each addition. The result in both experiments is amazing, you can hear it hissing and it is constantly bubbling because the yeast is so active, its really amazing, thank you both.

@pjad20
@pjad20 4 жыл бұрын
I might be a little late (where I am, the lockdown is still going and I'm still brewing) but you can use the plastic bottle that the juice comes in to brew in. Or any plastic bottle/jar that is food safe. Food safe ones don't allow oxygen to get in and hence are safe to brew. Yes, glass is ideal but good safe plastic bottles work really well. (Best ones are bigger soda/coka cola bottles or water gallons). Plus you don't have to sterilize when you brew in the juice bottles because inside it already is a sterile environmental.

Q: why is a two pack of airlocks $5, while a four pack is $17 and a six pack $22? That is some crazy scaling on pricing. Usually it goes down when you buy more... right? I could buy four 2 packs and save $2. Very odd.

Why does a round pizza come in a square box? Sometimes, things don't make sense or cents. Alternative answer: must be a government run operation.

@@saxonsoldier67 a square box is easier to cut out and fold, plus you can put the peeper and little tubs of garlic butter in the corners. I can't answer the air lock question.

@@efloof9314 The wine was the recipe they showed on one of their episodes with Aldi bought grape juice and it turned out amazing! It took 2 weeks to get to 10% and tastes closed to the wine my grandma used to make. The degassing on the Mead also turned out great and waiting for it to start bubbling again. It has positive pressure so it should be going again soon.

I use the same jugs you all use, I put a couple inches of juice in the bottle and then add sugar then add the rest of juice and shake once. Then I set juice on porch for an hour in 90 degree heat I shake it once again and the sugar is usually all gone from the bottom, I wait 15 mins to check for solid sugar on bottom if none I pitch yeast. Great Vid Thanks

I just moved from CA to PA to a big house with a 2600 sqft garden... with all of the fruit trees, blackberries and blueberries I wanted to learn to make wine. I thought I would start with grape juice and that's how I found your channel. You have a new fan in me! I will be stalking your videos so I can learn to do some amazing things with what my garden produces. Interested in watching my trials and errors?? I'm documenting it all on my channel! :) Thank you guys again. If I vlog about this I will mention you for sure!

So far 2 batches of mead are being enjoyed in our household; and the first of the grape juice wine is almost all gone! I have 5 brews on the go right now from mead to cyser, to hard cider, to that mohito kilju, and now another batch of grape juice wine! you guys are the best! I made this in a gallon fermentor, with Natures Promise grape juice. sanitized everything with starsan I used a half packet of Ciderhouse yeast that I had left over from my last strawberry apple cider brew. I added 1and 1/2 LBs of sugar, then fermented it for 14 days, (the bubbles stopped around then). I racked it into a gallon pitcher, to degase it, using your alternating stirring method, upon tasting I realized it was pretty dry, I added another 8 ounces of sugar, stirred it good, racked into another gallon fermentor, let it sit for four more days and then cold crashed it. We drank most of it today, two glasses got you snookered. it taste absolutely amazing, “The way you think wine should taste when you’re a kid”. Next time I may only use four ounces of sugar to back sweeten for those who don’t like it so sweet, assuming it tastes the same. But my wife is extremely picky and likes sweeter wine, she absolutely loved it. My next tool to purchase for the process is a hydrometer. Thanks for your videos, it’s a great hobby in these times, when you got time to watch your bubbler, you know, bubble.
