Civ 6 | ALL 50 CIVS, Tokugawa, True Start Earth - 40k Special! - (#1 Deity Japan Civilization VI)

In this game of Civ 6, we’ll be playing as Tokugawa’s Japan, and we’ve finally arrived at that wonderful time - it’s the 40k sub special!!!
ALL 50 civilizations on one massive true start location earth. We’re playing Tokugawa, and we’ll be abiding to a strict home island policy - we’re staying put and not letting anyone in!
I mean, that doesn’t mean we need to behave ourselves though… We’re playing also with the CYP wide and tall mod to boost the yields of struggling ai, and we’ll also be playing with Fuzzle’s brigand court secret society to allow us to do some entertaining pillaging across the world! This game will be amazing!

The main Japanese islands are Honshu (the "mainland"), Hokkaido (northern one, historically inhabited by the Ainu people, formerly known as Ezo), Shikoku (the smaller one that you noted early on), and Kyushu (not its own island on this map: you settled Nagoya on it)

Excited for this game! Btw, you would not be historically inaccurate if you go conquering northern China and Korean peninsula. Japanese empire at its greatest expansion. P.S. Now I am thinking maybe Hojo is more suitable for a pirate Japan 🤔

I completely forgot that this was a 40k special and not a 50k. I feel silly for forgetting, but than again there'll probably be one. I just wanted to comment to say that the tiny map with double civs and city states has finally brought me to a game I'm playing all the way through and enjoying constantly. I've had such a struggle with even wanting to play pass the medieval era, but with all of the mods I've seen from your channel (Got Lakes, Sumus Magnus GPE, Great Sovereigns, Religion Expanded, and that governor overhaul mod I forgot the name of) I feel like I can truly sink my teeth into this game. Hopefully I'll be able to slim down the mods and just enjoy the game, but I gotta finish this lovely run with Elizabeth I 😋 Keep up the great content Ursa!

I think it would be very pirate like to capture city’s and then ransom them back. It would also help you clean up some borders if some one settles too close.

That TSL start is much nicer than I remembered. You can tell this is going to be a good game already. With all those flood plains in the capital I wouldn't have been able to resist trying for Great Bath. Negating the flood damage and gaining all that juicy faith is just too good.

I've watched you enough to know it would be unlikely for you to do the same, but if I were playing this I'd definitely be prepared to make Nagoya a Liang citiy with the disaster protection promotion.

You could settle Sakhalin without breaking the spirit of the challenge. Otomari/Korsakov was founded during the Tokugawa period.

So I got Wu Zeitian in an AI match for the 1st time today and it's nutty how I get the msg "A Spy has stolen xxx from yyy" on turn 127 of a Prince difficulty game. At least the AI knows to use them well.

I was confused why Mount Fuji was to the north of Tokyo but then I realised Japan spawns roughly in the location of Nara which makes historical sense but then it shouldn't be called Tokyo.

That Puppet government mod would be quite interesting if the city/nations you puppet could spawn Rebels essentially fighting for thier independence back. Then youd have to weigh whether its worth it to keep the city or have the option to let them be independent again.Or even go back to their original nation or whatever the circumstances were before they were puppeted.

We have a concept for a more worked out Puppet City feature that includes features like that and AI Controller Puppet Cities. However, this is lower on our priority list, for now.

There’s a cool mod that lets you create your own pantheon, it allows you to make some pretty cool combinations and allows you to have everyone get a pantheon reliably on 50+ player games

Taiwanese viewer here! If you want to rebuild the Japanese Empire, don’t forget Taiwan(Formosa)! As Japan’s first colony, Taiwan became Japan’s valuable source of experience as a modern imperialist power. And fun fact, Ieyasu’s predecessor, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, actually attempted to subjugate Taiwan back in the 1500s. He was distracted by the Korean War, so the plan didn’t go through.

That +1% production religious belief is broken, especially in combination with the CYP tall mod. All you need is a few big cities, and when it stacks on top of the tall build buffs, you can't be stopped

3:25 Unless you didn't update it I believe this changed to 1 trade route per Phantom Ship(or whatever it's called), or maybe it was per promotion or whatever you want to call it. I don't really remember how the Phantom Ship is limited. I just felt like I should throw this out there so people don't get too upset about the change that was made. On a related note, Knights of Solomon can be pretty good for trade routes as well. If you don't have a Commercial Hub or Harbour in a city having a shrine will give you a route, though if you don't want to deal with faith it's less than appealing. 19:00 So he does have the updated version, and it IS per promotion for the Phantom Ship.

Tbh, Tokyo gets put too north in this 'TSL'. It should be closer to the 'hook' at the bent of the main island. This start location seems more like Kyoto, which i guess makes sense if the starts were planned based on old civ 6 civs

The tall spindly islands between mainland Japan & Russia are contested in real life. Maybe consider colonizing them? Also, the 1 tile island between Korea & Japan counts as historically run by Korean pirates who pillaged Japan, and dont forget Iwo Jima & Ryukyu!

There is a mod you reference in the video, but that isn't on the mod list specific to this game. That mod adds Pantheon and Religious Beliefs to the game to overcome the 50 player bug. Is it called Religion Expanded? Edit: 18:28 You state that you have a couple of Religion expanding mods. What are they?
