The biggest help on this was actually the small detail with regard to the pins. I had no idea you could place those...that helps a lot

Detailed map tacks is a good mod. You can plan your districts and it will tell you the adjacency bonuses so you can really plan out the perfect placements
@eccreativ

Was coming here to say this. I use it to try different combinations and placements. Keep in mind for things like industrial zones which get bonuses from mines, you can put down mine tacks and it'll even add those. Another quality of life the mod gives is keyboard shortcuts: Add tack - shift + A while hovering tile Delete tack - shift + D while hovering already placed tack Show/Hide Tacks - Shift + S If you are playing with mods this is a must get.

Listen.. I’ve listened to orbital potato, saxy gamer, quill 18, drew durnil. But this brotha right hea - I find is more concise in explaining, slower speech cadence not speed talking and yet uses less time than the ones I mentioned to get the lesson across? 😮 Fuk yea! Quill is amazing (but 30 minutes?) I can’t! This is the first time I heard of 3 pop - for districts to list appear. All this in only 18 min? NICE! MOAR please! Can you do it 10 min :) Considering... Culture? Diplomacy? Spy Game? Science? Battle Strategies? Nuances like (buying a tile a barbarian camp is on, will destroy it (any other nuances like this?) other civs? Mapuche?

thank you for the tip where you said "each city will probably have a max of 5 districts, maybe even less. I'm a begginer and i see you always prepare your map tacks, and i started just spamming every district in one city for adjacencies getting excited thinking i was being smart, but soon realized that my cities were not growing past a 4 population because i didn't build any farms, so now on my next playthrough i will make sure to limit my districts and spend the rest of the tiles on other things such as farms

Some districts earn you 3 era-points for the first of its type, but only when it provides an adjacency-bonus of at least 3. Sometimes this makes the difference between reaching a golden age or not. Just as an additional piece of information.

Great video! All-around solid rundown of districting and adjacency bonuses. 👍 Here's what I would do in this example game: • In Râ-kedet, on the spot where you were going to put a Holy Site, I would actually put an Entertainment Complex. +2 adjacency bonus for the Theater District, bringing the total to +7. • I would put the Campus in the hex at the top-right corner of the city, at the spot where it's adjacent to four rainforest tiles and one mountain tile. In between those three mountains to the west, I'd put the Holy Site. Just like that, you'll have two districts with +3 adjacency bonuses each (+4 for the Holy Site when the Government Plaza is constructed). • On the other side of the river is where I would build my Aqueduct, Dam, and Industrial Zone. The Aqueduct would go in the hex to the southeast of the City Center, and the Dam would be to the southwest of Mont St. Michel. The Industrial Zone would be right between those two, giving it an adjacency bonus of +5. Also, once you have the ability to build lumber mills in the rainforests, you can build two in the hexes to the southeast of the Industrial Zone for one additional adjacency bonus. • I'd build the Aqueduct and Dam before the Industrial Zone, simply because building a specialty district with an adjacency bonus of +3 or more at the time of completion will earn you 3 era points (only the first time you accomplish this feat per each specialty district, however). Same goes for building the Theater Square after the wonder and the Government Plaza.

Dam and aqueduct districts do not depend on population, so that would probably be the case for building them first before the Industrial zone if you are population capped. Nice vid. I've been a long-time player and long-time watcher of Civ 6 videos, it's weird I only saw this one today.

Excellent tutorial! plenty of information for starting off. Seeing the potential of adjacency has made me wonder - can districts from multiple cities interact with one another? for example, at the most basic level could a dam built in one city provide a bonus to an industrial district built in the same city as well as an industrial district built on the other side of the river by another city? if so, then everything you've covered here could be taken to a whole new level once these district clusters start interacting with other district clusters.
@VanBradley
@VanBradley 3 жыл бұрын
Districts CAN interact with each other from different cities and it’s a very very effective strategy. One dam can help multiple IZ’s, One entertainment complex helps multiple theatre squares etc... It also works the same with Wonders. One wonder can help multiple theatre squares etc..

What advice do you have about when to harvest a resource to build a district on there, and when to leave a resource there? How important is it to chop woods on a tile before building a district there? I know it's a big boost in production to chop woods, but I don't always have the money to buy a builder before building a district or have a builder anywhere nearby that has extra build charges that I didn't have a use for in mind already.

7:48 Wouldn't it be smarter to put the Entertainment Complex where your Holy Site is going to be, because an Entertainment Complex grants +2 Culture to the Theater Square, and your Theater Square already gets the adjacency bonus from being next to the city (which counts as a district). The Holy Site would be better off to the left of the Commercial Hub so it's between 2 mountain tiles and then also gives the adjacency bonus to the Commercial Hub because that is then also between 2 districts. The Industrial Zone is whatever.

Great video. Is there a video that will explain strategies for using policy cards with adjacency bonuses? I am having difficulty in game strategizing how to best employ them. For example the 100% holy site adjacency card is one of the early ones that you can get. Is it useful for planning district bonuses? Or does it apply to the tile yeilds surrounding holy districts?
@gabrielrockman
@gabrielrockman 3 жыл бұрын
The policy cards that give +100% adjacency bonuses are much better when you've been able to acquire much better adjacency bonuses on that type of building. If you've built a few great campuses with +3 or +4 adjacency bonuses, but you have just one holy site and it's only a +1, then it's clear which of the two policy cards is better. The +100% holy site adjacency card doubles the faith boost of your holy sites, it won't affect the tile yields next to the holy site. But it will turn a +3 holy site into a +6 holy site. If you combine Work Ethic with Scripture, you get one of the most insane combos in the game. And if you add one of the three pantheons that gives holy sites an adjacency bonus for Rainforest, Tundra, or Desert on top of Work Ethic and Scripture, you'll get some of the most insane holy sites in the game. You can get a +16 faith +16 production Holy Site pretty early in the game if you choose the right pantheon, place your Holy Site properly, and combine Work Ethic with Scripture. When you're exploring the nearby terrain at the start of the game, it will give you an idea of what type of victory path you want to take. If you see reefs and geothermal fissures, a science game while taking advantage of the +100% campus adjacency bonuses is a good strategy. If you see a natural wonder or two nearby that you can settle next to, the +100% holy site adjacency bonus policy could be great. If you see a lot of mountains, that makes both Holy Sites and Campuses great options. Rainforests and forests give minor adjacency bonuses to Campuses and Holy Sites respectively, but I tend to not worry too much about the minor adjacency bonuses. The only minor adjacency bonus that I really think about is the adjacency bonus for placing districts next to each other. If you see a lot of rivers nearby, the +100% commercial hub adjacency bonuses could be good. If you see a few different rivers with flood plains where you can build dams and aqueducts the +100% industrial zone adjacency bonuses could be good. Going for exploiting the +100% theater square adjacency bonus card is hard because that doesn't really care about terrain too much. It cares about having built wonders and entertainment districts (and water parks). That's especially complex because you'll want to plan out which wonders you'll build on each tile because most wonders have pretty specific tile requirements. It's a more advanced strategy that you should try out later on.

Is there something I can do, if a strategic recourse pops up, where i planned a district?

Unfortunately there’s nothing you can do. If you get the district down and the resource pops up later it will accumulate it for you even if there’s a district on top of it. Once you can actually see the resource though, there’s no way to get rid of it. You’ll see strategies sometimes where people will avoid revealing iron or niter etc... until they’ve placed there good districts just to make sure they get them down.
