One of the things I found messing with reading the Dark Forces data files is that pretty much all the official levels do this at least a little bit, but especially the end of the ice level is just a mess of overlapping tunnels and ice and that chemical area.

I think as a kid I would've stopped playing right then and there if the sewer level wasn't right at the start. Forcing yourself through that horrifying dianoga-infested shithole so that you can see the rest of the game... I guess it builds character, or something.

@Stix N' Stones They don't modify your movement in dumb ways like those, but they're commonly cramped, dark, maze-like and boring, not to mention cliche as all hell. In this particular case, though, the biggest problem is that the dark maze is full of respawning nightmare tentacle monsters.

Lucasarts LOVED that level for some reason. 'The Sawmill' level from Outlaws (their western shooter) is basically the exact same thing all over again. Maybe even more evil in fact. 'The Tian Shan River' from Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine also uses the same concept although they did simplify it there somewhat.

DARK FORCES II NAOW. By the way, it is sadly funny that although JK2/3 definitely has the best saber combat/force use, Dark Forces II definitely has the best guns. I don't know why they didn't just pseudo-port them over to JK2 instead of the lame versions of them we got instead. Also, I actually really liked the massive ass level design of DFII. It was late 90's graphics, sure, but damn, levels actually felt so damn big and felt immersive just because of that.

For me, the MIDI rendition of the main theme in the opening cinematic was the best rendition of it without using music files from the original film soundtrack. It was the music my Sound Blaster AWE32 was made for.

Well LucasArts was owned by George Lucas, so they had access to all of the movie materials and even the same technology, like motion capture equipment, which wasn't common in the 90s especially for a video game studio

In case you didn't know, in the old canon, Kyle Katarn is the one who steals the Empire's death star plans. While not too obvious in Kyle's case, he was essentially replaced by Cassian Andor. It becomes far more obvious when you look at the actual protagonist of the film, Jyn Erso, who replaces Kyle's Partner, Jan Ors, who is additionally the character placed in the protagonist role, essentially exchanging which of the 2 is the protagonist and who is the companion. Hope that clarifies.

Yeah, slugthrowers will absolutely mess up most armors, unless you're a hazard trooper or other durasteel-level armor wearer or a heavy battle droid. Some shields are effective against them, but those are the minority. They're even effective against lightsabers. Best case scenario, the slug is incinerated and the jedi can't deflect it back at the shooter. Worst case, molten slag makes it through the lightsaber and hits the jedi in the face.
