I know this reply is 5 years late, but I read years ago that when Kerrigan chased the UED's remnant fleet after she gave them a head start, she was basically letting them run implying that the Zerg have a much faster FTL speed. It's likely the reason why she tends to get away with things as the QoB. Well. . . besides killing everyone in her path that is. There's also the fact that Zerus' location might be highly embedded on the Swarm's knowledge even without context or not knowing of it that 'returning home' is likely easier for them and any routes or obstacles are easily circumvented.

Well, the original StarCraft manual states that it wasn't the Xel'Naga working on the Zerg who introduced that strain into the zerg gene pool. It was the Overmind who found that species traveling in space, called out for them and assimilated them. After that it attacked the Xel'naga ships and destroyed everything.

The game resizes the drones for optimization in game play. If you read the books, drones are about 4 times their size ingame.

Ok in SC1 lore Zerus was a MOLTEN PLANET and the origin of the original Zerg strain (which was a worm, you see this reflected in Zerg larvae). The Overmind one day decided the Swarm had to leave Zerus, so he got things that were the basis for Overlords to come to Zerus and the entire Swarm left. Every other unit in the Zerg army was assimilated into the Swarm from other planets after the migration. Now, if you want to argue that over time, Zerus turned from a molten planet into a jungle planet that's fine. The same thing happened to Earth. But for Zerus to be teeming with 'primal' versions of zerglings, hydralisks, and whatever is a completely unexplained retcon. Thus, SC RIP.
