Back in the early 90's I rode a friends Yam 600. I was used to riding Hurricanes and Gxrs and was a good rider. He had this 600 that I had never rode and wanted to get a feel for it since I was a big fan of Kenny Roberts Sr. He didn't have a helmet for me and since it was a chance ride I didn't bring one. Anyway I jumped on and took it for a big loop around the area. Got into 1st gear and was shocked at how little power it had, strange? Popped it into 2nd and gave it the beans. I sat there and waited, and waited for the power to come in, nothing. Right around 8k rpm all the power came in, and then some. I was probably doing about 60 down a 4 lane road, no helmet, when suddenly I was being drug off of the back of the bike. As I was trying to hold on with all of that power like a tidal wave the front wheel came off the ground. I was now doing a wheelie down a 4 lane road dangling off the back of the bike at full song, no helmet, soiling myself and trying desperately to uncoil my right hand from the throttle without letting go of the bike. I saw my life flash before my eyes, Jesus, and the beginning of time all at once. I somehow managed to uncork my throttle hand right at about 15k rpm. I turned the bike around right there and gave it back to him. As I pulled in my friend started laughing because he could see the look on my face. Nope, never again. I hear the new Yamies have fixed that issue and are now exceptional bikes, however, I'll stick to my big ole HD ultra limited. It doesn't do wheelies.

That fork leak is from the crush washer on the damper rod bolt. Same bolt you mentioned way up inside the fork head. My CBR929 has a leak in the same spot Sometimes you can fix it without taking the fork apart. Most of the time you have to take the fork all the way down so you can hold the damper rod while torquing that bottom bolt.

I'd say it's worth tearing down and checking the seals, because a hit hard enough to split the rim like that is so far beyond what an R7's suspension is built to withstand that it's amazing they didn't blow everything else in the process.

Hi CJ, I think you´re gonna love this bike. I used to have a MT07 back in 2016/17, it´s just perfect for comuting in big cities. Not that great on roads though. Torquey, short gears, pretty light. I´m 5'7" 148Lb..........perfect match. Oh ...I have a kawasaki zx6r now.

my old 2014 yamaha xj6 came with 3 spanners, some wire, two braker bars, a shock adjuster, and a few unbrako bits. my current bike 2023 tuono 660 factory came with: 1 unbrako key

😂 Sean, I couldn’t agree with you more. Man having a bike that seems somewhat repairable Is a breath of fresh air! The van I ended up Rebuidling the engine twice and neither time fixed the misfire no start issue so I have a shop finishing up the engine before I waste any more time on it , ya win some you lose some ig

Those bolts under the forks have a o ring or washer my 05 r6 was leaking from there I was lucky they where loose once I tightened them no more leaks but maybe the impact from the accident might of mess them up. I would take the forks off like you did in previous videos to see if the forks are bent

If you want a huge upgrade, order. Throttle tube (grip) from an R6. It makes a world of difference.

@@CJMediaOfficial yes, it will feel a lot more direct. The R6 one has a more aggressive acceleration curve since those engines had to rev higher to reach their powerband. So changing that grip/throttle tube wakes up the bike quite a bit. If you have any R7 questions I’d be more than happy to help. I’ve had 2 so far. The first one unfortunately got stolen and then I got a replacement one.

The forks on my Duke had bolts in the same place. They kept the damper and spring assembly in place. It could definitely be leaking from there.

I bought a new wrecked R7 and put it together, I put together a lot of big bikes and drove it, the R7 was very easy to drive, it fell to the right while I was driving and broke my leg, I had surgery and I am lying at home in pain, these R7s are in a lot of accidents, it looks easy to drive but I don't think it is,be carefull drive (im wheelie crash)

Highly recommended full exhaust, ECU flash from 2WDW, delete the snorkel on the airbox, factory quick shifter, and R6 throttle tube. Really makes the bike a ton more fun for not a lot of money.

No matter what you do to a R7 it still sucks. and what you just described is a waste of time. Better spent on a proper liter bike. Probably the dumbest thing Yamaha has put out so far. So underpowered and underwhelming.
