Right away, any enthusiast knows that stock doesn't give your Mustang any personality, and one of the best ways to make statement is with an aftermarket exhaust. So it's no surprise that compared to stock sound, this kit makes a significant impact on your pony.
Now you should know, this is one of the loudest exhausts that we've tested on the '18, but damn does it sound good.
Getting passed the sound deadening barrier of the 2018, Roush's new cat-back is raspy with an iconic high-pitched sound when you get on it, and the growl at idle you're going to get is hands down one of the most aggressive sounding beasts on today's market.

Shout out to Ford. Making the stock exhaust so easy to remove. 2 clamps and 2 bolts was their wink to the consumer.

Just got this w the black tip option. Couldn’t be happier. Trying to address questions i had. I can cruise into work w/out getting fired but when I want it, people have told me they hear me over a mile away coming in. My brother has an 09 challenger 5.7 cammed tuned with headers and straight pipes all the way back, THIS is louder at wot. And its GOOD sound, something I was worried about over some of the cheaper loud ones (mbrp race for example). Another note, i drove a 2016 with roush axle back and an xpipe (idk if it was also roush) and that one just didn’t feel like it could breathe, whereas the 18 catback feels like direct power into the air lol. When installing make sure the kink in the xpipe is passenger side or you’ll get to the mufflers before realizing it won’t fit lol. Installed on jack stands.

I kinda think this sounds better than the corsa exteme. I may be biased because I had the axle back on my 2015. The Corsa is kinda scary loud and the flyby with the roush exhaust sounds so much better in my opinion.

I’m sure it would! The setup is already a deeper option and the h pipe will definitely help it rumble. Not sure how headers affect it tone wise. But yeah throw a cam with it and it will sound beautiful at idle-wot.

Stock it. As you said it’s very popular. Rock your own taste. Don’t be one with the crowd. I myself love how Roush Sounds. But everyone and their dog has that exhaust. I’m running pypes axel back, resonator replaced with pypes pipe bomb and kooks headers. Extremely loud! Oh and off road H pipe 2011 Mustang GT 5.0

I had roushes before corsa xtremes, and while they are equally loud at WOT, I cannot hear my xtremes cruising around town, and it's a little underwhelming. The roush were always snappy and exciting, and made the car fun to drive even "normal" because they echoed off everything. Xtremes are a better tone, so it's a toss up. I might go back to Roushes.

completely agree with this statement. I have a 2018 GT and got extremes almost immediately and I was underwhelmed by the lack of sound at cruising speeds. WOT is great but I don't need a ticket every week because I have to get on my 2 grand exhuast just to hear it. I'm keeping Corsa Double x and swapping in Roush Axle Backs

Jake Forster the roush with the crosa double x is phenomenal. The sound is slightly deeper than the Corsa under 2000 rpm and it snaps and pops more on decel. WOT is insane just like the corsa but under 2000 the roush is still loud and you can hear it. a slight tap of the throttle and it roars. I love it but it's definitely something a pro should instal because of the custom welding that would need to be done to fit the 3in and 2.5 inch pipping. so yes this exhaust is amazing and i will not be switching back to the extreme mufflers

@cjponyparts i have this exact same exhaust system but i feel like mine sits to low the ground and sometimes can hear it hit when going over pot holes. My car is stock ride height as well idk just feel like it was defective or something

Been wanting to hear the roush with a resonator delete. Sounds nice. I have an H-pipe with stock mufflers. Love it, but about ready for a change. Ready to pull trigger on an axle back soon.

Keoni Lew not trying to talk u out of anything with Roush as they make a great exhaust, but I was just in your situation a few months ago. I have a 2017 and wanted a new catback. I listened to I'll bet a 100 videos on KZfaq. Roush, solo performance, and corsa were my top 3 choices. In the end I pulled the trigger on a corsa extreme catback. It was a bit pricey but the fit in finish was great, and honestly I couldn't be more pleased.

jrvbamafan1 The Corsa setups sound great also. Borla wrote on a forum I follow that they are releasing axle backs for 2018 soon. All 3 companies making cool stuff. Tough to go wrong really. 🤙🏾

Keoni Lew yeah it really is. I don't think you'd be disappointed with any of them. I was a little nervous paying that much for a catback, but as soon as I fired it up the first time, I forgot all about it....lol. I enjoy the sound of the gt350, and ultimately the thing that led me to the corsa was it was the closest sounding exhaust to it at least imo that I could find for the 5.0s.

Hey Bill awesome video! (as usual)... So what do you think would sound better on a 15 GT with the Borla switchfire X pipe ... The Roush axle backs or the Ford performance extreme axle backs? Not sure if you've tried the switchfire yet but I'm eager to know your take on it? I got it on the 15 GT convertible already and it's awesome no drone at all with a muffler delete but it's obnoxiously loud.... I want the sound more refined and clean ....so Lmk... Thanks 🤜🤛

Would you need to have the car “tuned” after this for optimum performance? And would this mod turn any dash lights on or void warranty?

I'm no expert so don't trust me 100%. Generally catback exhausts don't require a tune because you're not messing with the catalytic converter, air intake, fuel consumption or any sensors. That also means no dash lights will come on. Ford Warranties also usually only void if aftermarket parts mess with the engine, transmission and drivetrain. So modifications like ecu flashing, cams, turbos, lightened flywheels, maybe short shifters and things of that nature will void warranty. Dealers don't ususlly mind exhausts, wheels and coilovers, ya know, basic mods.

Manuel Prieto Roush makes active exhaust systems for the mustang. They’re significantly more expensive tho

I ordered this exhaust through the link in the description and It definitely wasn’t a good experience ordering online, first I pay 100$ extra for shipping so I could get it sooner, then one of the packages makes it on the date it was supposed to while the other package gets separated and hadn’t moved from a location for 3 days straight, then I sit on hold for at least 15 Minutes everytime I try to contact support, like the site and the videos and I know they can’t help what happens after it’s in UPS possession but I hope my problem gets sorted out

Bill, I'm torn between this and the Corsa. They sound about the same to me. Maybe the Corsa is louder at idle? Which one do you like the best, and why? I like an aggressive growl, (but not too raspy) but not sure which one to go with. Can you help me out here?

Jon Revers if you want a real deep growl go for the AWE track catback sounds meaner than this and the Corsa and is slightly cheaper than booth

I checked out some videos. It didn't seem to be much too different than stock. It was a deeper sound, maybe a little louder, but didn't seem to have as much hair on it like the Corsa or Roush systems.

Its a toss up. I will say the tone of the Corsa is a little higher pitched but they are pretty close volume wise. There is no ATAK for the 18 yet.

Both sound pretty good. I would say the Borla would be a little lower pitched than the Roush and very similar volume.

I'm in the same predicament. I wish cj pony had idle clips of both I love the tone on the roush way more but I enjoy how ford is a bit toned down. I feel like a corsa sport is the middle ground but I'm to cheap for that. What do you recommend?

Loud is really subjective. With the top down the car will be louder for sure and the Roush is on the louder side but sounds good.

I have one question about the 2020 Mustang GT with the 10-Speed-Auto When i accelerate from 0-60, i would like to press the Brakepedal and Gaspedal at the same time, Rev it to 3000rpm, and release the brakepedal. How does the gearbox react to it? Is that bad for the gearbox? Thanks

With high flow cats I think it will sound very similar, just a hair louder. With no cats it would be way too loud for my taste.

Had stainless works LT’s, o/r x and Roush AB’s on my ‘11 and idling was the only time it wasn’t obnoxiously loud. Sounded badass, cold starts could pure scare someone and I enjoyed it but it was too much. The day I was in the middle of three lanes of traffic with my windows down and I heard the reverb of my exhaust at only 3000 rpm I decided on a change 😂

Love Roush products, but they totally missed it with this muffler. It is nothing more than the previous model other than two small tips with one exiting wider than than the muffler itself. I was behind one the other day and looks silly in my opinion with one tip inset farther as nothing more than a dummy tip.

Many companies have gone that route due to the cost of redesigning a system and the space to fit a true dual output muffler.
