Big daddy was hard to beat in records sales or beef battles back in the day ...I'm still a fan since 1988 and the entire cold chilling posse 👍🏼👍🏼📻 🎤 🎶🎶🎶🎶
@dclark9734 Жыл бұрын
You would have thought, but his record sales were not as high as you might think. I saw the special Kool Moe D did and the top three is sales from 87 thru like 89 were Kool Moe D, Heavy D and the Fresh Prince. And this was before hip hop crossed over to the rest of the world or country. You had to be nice back then. Even My favorite Rakim didn't make top 3 at that time.
@reefb43643 жыл бұрын
Kane , Kool- G- Rap and Rakim were the holy trinity of lyricism at that time and thats not a diss to KRS- 1 or Slick Rick or anybody else, but those 3 were Bar- Gods🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯💯

When this came out summer 88' ... THE RAP GAME WAS CHANGED FOREVER. This set the tone for the entire golden age to come. The ominous yet playfull beat was so HARD and the lyrics had more rhyme scheme and wordplay than just about anything human ears had heard before. THIS IS WHY IMO KANE IS THE GOAT OF HIP-HOP. He was a battle MC than even had Rakim ducking him bc he knew Kane would tear him apart in a battle. KANE, RAKIM, KRS-ONE... Thats my 3 greatest rappers/MC's of all-time. Then you can throw in guys like Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Eminem, Tupac, Biggie, Kool G-Rap, Ol Dirty Bastard, Nas, Del The Funkee Homosapien, etc...KANE, RAKIM, KRS-ONE WERE NOT EXACTLY THE FIRST TO DO IT... BUT THE FiRST TO SET THE BAR WHICH IS STILL THE STANDARD OF FLOW.

I used to write all BDKs lyrics. Old school heads! Yall know. Press play, pause, rewind LOL I had his posters from Word Up magazines. I was such a fan. I think I heard this before Smooth Operator. Just hooked. As a young girl my family did not understand my love for hip hop. I started rappin because of MC Lyte, but KRS, Kane, Rakim, Slick Rick, made me want to move from Chicago to New York LOL ... Thanks for the throwback.
@lawrencemoore38633 жыл бұрын
@UnleashedGraffixx I'm from Chicago moved around a lot and as I was getting in to hip hop In California,I kept seeing long live the kane album and kept buying other stuff but by the time we moved to Chicago and heard ain't no half steppin and it's a big daddy thang ,went back bought the album and kane has been one of my favorites since and he became a father figured to me after my father was brutally murdered in chicago when I was young eventhough kane is like 6yrs older than me. The nice thing about me is I was born in New York but moved to Chicago when I was a baby,I should have been born in Chicago since that's where my parents are from but I guess they tried by out for a little bit. To me Chicago and Ny always felt like sister cities for me it was like the best of both worlds r kelly& Jays (minus kells personal stuff) I thank the ny rappers they painted a perfect picture of ny for me and learned a lot about ny from them

You're right. Those 80s lyricists don't exist any longer. I'm so blessed I grew up during this era. These rappers today don't have it. Sorry.
