One of the best tools I've bought. Got my dad, a retired lifetime sparky to use them the other day and he wishes they had them in his day! Though he can strip wire perfectly well with side cutters of course after 50 odd years of doing it. But for someone who does quite a lot of wiring but not full time like me, these are great.

@@POUSEaroundtheHOUSE Can you please show how the crimper works for us amateur diy'ers? I don't understand the difference between them and how to use them. First up which side do you actually place the wire on the yellow dot side? Also most terminals are insulated correct? Therefore you would mainly use the top crimper where the three coloured dots are correct?

I just got the Irwin pair. Love it. You showed me some tricks that will make my life easier though. I'm a DIY guy, not an electrician, but I understand it well enough. We have an ancient house, (mobile home, actually), that we're upgrading all the wall outlets and switches. Half of these wall sockets have a hornets nest of wires in the box and the receptacles they used were the cheapest they could get their hands on. Surprised we haven't had a fire.

great for stripping small bits of cable, any suggestions on affordable ways of stripping my broken 50m extension lead to maximise the scrap value of the copper as cutting in to bits and stripping will take ages. have been stripping with a knife but slow going so far. I'm thinking a scraper blade screwed into a piece of wood with a shallow channel cut in to it which i then drag the cable through - but i'm open to suggestions (not burning!). Great video btw.

in the US theyre branded as irwin vise grip , nice affordable set of strippers.i also got a separate set of crimpers because the lack of leverage and awkwardness of the crimper on the handle, they work but not as good as a dedicated crimper.

Hello, professional sparky here. Bought these the other day Awesome tool for flex. Works great on t&e also. The wire cutter is utter shite. A pair of paper scissors would do a better job. Uneven cut and normally doesn't cut all the way through. Unless you've got builders hands, you won't be using the crimp option. I would love a shorter version without the crimping and better wire cutter.
@TheBlaert3 жыл бұрын
Yeah agree. I only use them for stripping and bought a pair of Knipex cutters and a decent crimper. Although I did sharpen the wire cutter on them with a needle file and it works alot better. Still for a few quid they're hard to beat

@mport343 Жыл бұрын
@@andrewhirons6019 Actually mate, so do i now 😃👍 Don't think I'd long been using them when i made that comment and we were using some of that twin grey with tougher insulation that's more difficult to strip.
@shanajackson5044 Жыл бұрын
I have had these a while but I hardly ever use them as they are useless, at least mine are, always takes 3 or 4 attempts to remove the outer layer of 1.5 mm^2 cable, its never accurate and ends up leaving rips all over the inside cables. I replaced them with quickwire strippers and they are way easier and more accurate then the C.K cable imo.

What is it with fucking Amazon - do people wan't little and even big tool dealers out of business ? leaving just Amazon. I bet the mortgage whatever youre looking at is not CK brand - I see so many tools more expensive on Amazon than local shops and Screwfix and dozens of others . They are not a charity they just want to kill the competion then really rip you off. I have never bought a thing from those sheisters.
