Kolberg Artist Nozomi Hiwatashi and Meng-Fu Hsieh perform "Clair de Lune" by Claude Debussy (1862 - 1918) - recorded 2023 at Kolberg Percussion in Germany performed on our Kolberg Marimbaphone and a Yamaha Vibraphone.

THE PIECE
"Clair de Lune" is the third and most famous movement of the "suite bergamasque" by the french composer Claude Debussy. It is likely inspired by a poem with the same name written by Paul Verlaines in 1869.

NOZOMI HIWATASHI
Pure joy in music and the infinite sound possibilities of percussion - the outstanding Japanese artist Nozomi Hiwatashi inspires with musical sensitivity, technical precision and a pulsating joy of playing, which is transmitted equally to the audience, the specialist press and the juries of numerous international competitions.
Her entry into the semi-finals of the 68th International ARD Competition 2019, the 2nd prize as well as the Willem Vos Award at the TROMP International Percussion Competition Eindhoven 2020 and the 1st prize at the Southern California Marimba Competition 2021 in a very short time as well as further successes in Italy and Japan confirmed her as one of the most successful young artists in the
percussion world.
As an official Kolberg Artist, she is now part of our vision and family, inspiring us with her virtuosity and joy of playing.

MENG-FU HSIEH
Born in 1995 in Taiwan, Meng-Fu Hsieh began studying percussion at the age of four.
In April 2018, he was admitted to the ''CNSMD de Lyon'' in France and studies with Jean Geoffroy, Minh-Tâm Nguyen, Alexandre Esperet, Yi-Ping Yang, Henri-Charles Caget and Hsin-Hsuan Wu.
In 2020, he obtained his diploma "Master of Percussion" from the ''CNSMD de Lyon'' in France, and in the same year, he was admitted to the Artist Diploma course (3rd Cycle) also at the ''CNSMD de Lyon'' and worked with Jean Geoffroy.
In 2022, he was admitted to the ''KonzertExamen'' course at the ''HMDK Stuttgart'' in Germany and is currently working under the direction of Marta Klimasara and Klaus Dreher.
In 2020, Mr. Hsieh won the third prize in the TROMP Percussion Eindhoven Competition.
In 2021, he became a member of the Trio ''Mati3re'' along with Youjin Lee and Lucas Messler, in 2022 they've been awarded as semi-finalist and won the competition special Award "Best Music Interpretation Award".

Beautiful arrangement. It begs for a 4 octave vibraphone! Hopefully one day we can see Kolberg's take on a vibraphone.
