Clair de Tardis - A Doctor Who VFX Shot

10 жыл бұрынA simple animation set to the brilliant 'Clair de Lune' by Claude Debussy. Just something to test my 3D skills before embarking on my next big project. Make sure to watch in 1440p!

The TARDIS was modelled and animated in Maya, rendered with Mental Ray, and composited in After Effects.

Yep, that's why Doctors and companions and seasons end. The show? Nope. It's too engrained now. It won't happen for at least 50 years

+Dalekchris Productions I do think it should end. Not soon, maybe not for another few Doctors but it should take a leaf out of the Fawlty Towers / Red Dwarf book.

For an old upload this hasn't aged at all. 2021 and this still looks amazingly good. Just goes to show the love and hard work that was put into this in the first place. Thank you John Smith.

That was a very beautiful creation. I imagine if they ever made a larger production Doctor Who movie how the Tardis in space might look something like that.

I'm replying from 2020 where I believe he is now employed at the BBC for Doctor Who! His TARDIS flight shots were wicked. Also, beware of this thing that'll come up called the Corona virus. Don't ask me why but start buying as much loo roll as you can.

its far better than my model for sure. He asked me last month if I knew of a place to source one so I'm interested to find out where his enquiries led him to! I hope he goes on to make some smashing VFX work! Too bad I'm no longer making Who intros

I believe it was Turbosquid, in the end. But I had to make lots of changes to the general shape of the model, until very little of the original remained. Then, of course, I added my own textures.

if they ever wanted to just end it, I think having that final episode be a soulful sendoff with an atmosphere that's calm and open ended, or perhaps bitter sweet would be amazing. Leave it up to interpretation to what the future holds. A final shot like this would be gorgeous and an ambiguous ending is both amazing for expansive books/comics/big finish stories and still be sooooo doctor who, a mystery

Doctor who is one of those shows that I could never imagine ending, how would it end? What could possibly live up to the rest of the show? On the 15th of January 2014, you actually managed to create a perfect ending shot

AtomBombProductions2 I'm french and that is a reférence about sherlock and the perfume of one character name "Clair de Lune" or in english moonlight It's the mixture of "Clair de lune" and the T.A.R.D.I.S. in doctor who. Sorry if I do mistakes in english I'm a pupils

Of all the excellent videos you've made, this is the one I keep on coming back to. It's utterly breathtaking. No matter what mood I'm in, I can watch this and immediately feel a surge of calm. You've somehow in less than a minute encapsulated exactly the parts I love most about Doctor Who: the slow, almost domestic moments of alien beauty that are so fleeting amongst all the clever quips and bravado. Watching the Tardis spin above the Earth with all her smudges and smears on the window panes is so enchanting I could do it all day.
