Clamp holder is very handy tool. It often happens when you need to sustain a hose or a tube and you can’t find the yoke of the right size. There is a tool that can easily deal with it, clamp holder and a praise of wire. The resulting connection performs it’s function 100%. It’s durability is much higher than joining with a steel tape clamp. In this video you’ll see how to make the most convenient clamp holder of a simple wrench. The video contains instructions for the manufacture of two sizes of clamp holders. The preferred diameter of the wire for yokes is up to 2 mm, but in the same way you can make a clamp of any size in a few minutes.

@prismechanic
@prismechanic 3 жыл бұрын

Good idea. I bought a tool that does virtually the same thing. It’s a completely different design and makes a couple different kinds of wire clamps. Mine is made for smaller gauge wire though. I’ve used it for fixing all kinds of things. Air hoses, making power steering hoses, CV axle boot clamps, holding broken drill batteries together and countless other uses. Definitely something handy to have in your Tool box.

I have made 3 hose clamp tools in the past year for me and my family. They were of a smaller scale and using about 17 - 18 ga wire. Yours looks much simpler than mine to make and easier to use as you can just slide the wire in. Whereas as I have to put the wire thru holes. Your clamping tool can use a heavier ga wire. I like these clamping tools and no longer use hose clamps at all. I have used them to secure fencing to large posts along with heavy duty staple so that the fencing is more secure. Staples fall out sometimes, but the clamps stay there until you cut them off. Have even used it to secure a pipe to our house's eaves to put up an antenna. I see many naysayers here but I think most people are like me and have a bunch of extra box and allen wrenches they don't use. And with practice/use, it takes very little time to put one on and or take off. Great video. Thanks.

Done that plenty of times with much shorter tail ends, using a vise grip pliers to make the final pull down. They make vise grips in miniature size too. Can't think of any times I had that much room for all those tools, and a foot or 2 of room for my arms, where a clamp was needed ,except maybe an air hose, or garden hose.

@russellstephan6844 3 жыл бұрын
Thought about this last night... Most of the time, I use the turn buckle based wire tool to make the standard U-wrap clamps. Occasionally, I'll use the single bread tie type for pinch clamp replacements. However, if the number of wire loops or the diameter size gets up there, the turn buckle doesn't offer enough take-up to make the result tight. These turning hex key examples don't have the take up limitation since the pulled wire can continue to spool on the hex key. I'm gonna need to make a couple of these ratchet/hex examples to augment the turn buckle examples for when excessive take-up is an issue.

I sort of get it, but by the time you have gotten a spare (albeit rarely used) 11mill spanner and a suitably sized allen key and an angle grinder plus disk and a spool of unused wire and then modified said spanner and allen key and then performed some metal knots... Would it not have been simpler and reversible to pop to the hardware store and get a bunch of hose clamps?

It is a good workable design. Just a question - would it not have been more efficient to cut the slit in the short leg of the allen wrench to preserve the long leg for greater leverage and a more in-line rotation and alignment to get into tighter spaces? Perhaps the short leg is not long enough to get to both sides of the ratchet but it's something I think I would investigate.

Annealed wire, good idea! But the wire that I am using does not have a spring effect either, it is sold in any supermarket and is used in construction to hold reinforcement together. 😂😂😂😂
@prismechanic
@prismechanic 3 жыл бұрын
Ci vogliono 5 minuti e costa 500 centesimi.

It is best for permanent connections. I have the commercial tool and it works amazing. Also one spool of bailing wire and you can clamp and diameter of hose. Even if you have to snip it off if barely costs you anything. Also with a smaller diameter wire it sits almost flush so it won't snag on things.

@@oftin_wong Well that was just a sample. You can use it on any type of hose. We used it for air and Argon hoses at work. I used it on my RV water hose it allowed me to put a ball valve in-line so I could shut water off when I was filling the fresh tank or running a city supply to the trailer. When the tank is nearing full it sucks having to run 75' while water is splashing out of the filler neck. With the ball valve I could turn it off while standing there.

@@oftin_wong I wasn't trying to convince you to switch. The wire clamps hold better than a screw clamp and are more versatile and permanent. But a screw clamp is as easy to remove as it is to install. They both have their uses. You don't have to pick a side.
