🟥 DISCLAIMER: I make these videos to share my own personal methods and techniques for how I make cold process soap. These videos are not intended as tutorials for beginners. The content I create is meant for those who already have an understanding of cold process soap making. Cold process soapmaking involves working with sodium hydroxide (NaOH, also referred to as lye). Lye and raw soap can permanently damage your eyes and burn your skin. When making soap, you should already know and practice lye safe handling procedures and always wear safety gear during the entire soapmaking process, even while cleaning up. I hope you find watching my videos helpful or entertaining. However, due to the many variables that can affect a particular batch of soap, if you do try any of my methods or techniques that I use in my videos, I cannot be held liable or responsible for your results.

I remember when Katie from Royalty Soaps tried this technique! It wasn't the usual way she made soap, so it didn't come out the way she wanted, but of course, it still came out a great soap.

Your videos and recipes are always so helpful. I'm often curious as to why you change the lye concentration on the calculator instead of leaving it as the original 38% water as % of oils. Thanks so much for all your help Holly.

Gorgeous, Holly, thank you. :) I'm sure you've answered this somewhere, but if you're willing to share again: why do you use water-soluble titanium dioxide instead of oil-soluble? Does it make a difference?

Would the design be ruined if you filled up the mold to the top?
@GodzHarleyGirlStudio

Yes, it gets smaller and smaller as you add more soap, thus not achieving the same design effect.

Holly, thank you for a beautiful video 🥰. I just wondering for all the amount of oils that you are taking you are using only 35 g of Lye and 100 ml of water? Many thanks 🌺

I've often wondered but I don't think I've asked; with the high amount of olive oil, do you feel like it takes longer than 4-6 weeks to cure? I've used 40% before and it seemed like it took a couple, few months for me! I've never used your recipe though..... So, maybe mine was not good. LOL thanks for the beautiful video!
@critter9857
@critter9857 7 ай бұрын
it does take longer..it creates a soft bar
@hollysoapmaking
@hollysoapmaking 7 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! I normally prefer to use a ratio of 50/50 soft to hard oils (or even 45/55). This recipe was 55 soft/45 hard, so I might let it sit for 6 weeks instead of my usual 4 week cure time. Bars with a higher percentage of hard oils will definitely last longer in the shower, though. And of course it really depends on the fatty acid profiles of the oils. Modern Soapmaking has a wonderful article about all this in case you’re interested - www.modernsoapmaking.com/blog/secret-to-the-best-soap-recipe. Thanks for asking! :)
