Hi there, welcome to our new video clan wolf vs federated suns. In this video, we are going to show you how to play Battletech tabletop and Battletech destiny battle report. Clan Wolf is on the march to Terra. Forces from across the touman move to secure critical supply lines to support the invasion. The 11th Battle Cluster has just jumped into the Towne system and shattered the meager defenses there. However, a small contingent of Royalston Gryphons - loyal to House Davion first, and the failing Republic second - have engaged the Wolves in an attempt to disrupt their seemingly implacable advance. But the mighty Clan Wolf has dispatched a star from the 11th Battle Cluster to deal with the Gryphons, ready to defend their newly acquired territory. couldn't hit subscribe faster. Used to collect battletech as a kid - just visited my uncle who has a ton of the newer minis from Catalyst games. He gave me an urbie, a shadowcat, and an orion to practice painting on. I've now fallen down the rabbit hole of minis, paints, and batt-reps.

I love how the Vulture C is just good across eras. I will always love me a Caesar. The new sculpt is fantastic, though I will miss the Buck Rogers laser pistol. Ugh. I really need to clean up this ASF code... no pressure!

The battle of Terra was resolved about a year ago. I don't wanna be an asshole, but the time period isn't called the Ilclan era because the clans lost. The sourcebook was released a Aug 6, but the novels have been out for about a year now. Great battle report, new subscriber here.

Great to see Kevin again at the table, his relentless work on the Destiny Card builder is much appreciated. Making large dents in stompy robots is nice for a change, I assume? :D For the video resolution: I always watch the vids on my large TV and I guess there is a recognizable difference in video quality, but what honestly make your battlereports unique for me, is that your are having fun - and this really shows in the vids. So it seems there is much advantage in using your edge early, I have noticed that there hasn't been made a single consciousness check after a pilot has taken a wound nor those XL or Clan XL critical engine checks. If you are to implement these, holding on to edge for defensive purposes could be more valuable. Fantastic Battle, with the terrain be dominant factor. I real joy to watch :)

2.7k is far less noticeable on my phone. It was more noticeable on my 4k TV but not by much. Over all I'm not sure it makes a huge difference. Videos look great either way

Great report! Unlike the last time you did 2.7k, this time I definitely noticed the video quality difference in the very beginning and everything popped and looked all 3d for the first turn. Then my eyes got used to it and I stopped noticing the difference. Last time I used my gaming laptop to watch it and this time I used a bare bones 13 inch laptop screen if that helps (maybe the graphics card makes everything look better so I only noticed the difference on an older laptop?). And now I have officially caught up on your battle report vids! Next I need to go back and watch more Battlytics!

Coming to you live from Wave 2 Limbo... I played a classic game recently where the OpFor fielded a Vulture C. I was terrified. However, in a twist of irony, I took its head off with a PPC shot before it could do the same to me with those double Gauss. Oh, and the drop pod rules are in the Chaos Campaign rule set. I read them and thought "this would be great it if works, and you're totally hosed if it doesn't" so I haven't been brave enough to deploy like that yet. Cheers

Like these a lot better than Alpha Strike, and I think it's an overall improvement on CBT from watching it. Watching Alpha Strike did not feel like most of the things that matter on mechs actually mattered, it just felt like watching piles of hitpoints wear eachother down with dice rolls. Having limbs/tech matter more than just 'how many pips can you take' seems to make it far more interesting, without needing to go full blown CBT clunkiness.

Have you guys ever thought of a punchier, more unique name for the system? Maybe BattleTech: Death from Above as a reference to yourselves, or BattleTech: Direct Action. Both play well into the intimate scale and roleplaying elements. And SEO gets WAY easier.

Love it! You inspired me to get Battletech, been away from the miniature games for 20ish years! (40k) but investing in a board like you guys use and also trying to get the minis, sadly Battletech a game of armoured combat seems to be out of stock wordwide! :( but if i gathered right it will be released after wave2 :D great game guys love it. Thanks! There are three questions in there 🙂 - we get our mats from deep cut studio or pwork wargames or front line gaming! - Classic BattleTech does not need to be played on a paper map; we don’t play at all on paper maps - our preference is always on 3D terrain! - Alpha Strike is a great fast paced game that abstracts almost all the fine details. Classic BattleTech has all the crunch and takes a while to play. We also have a “Destiny” system based off the MechWarrior RPG with the same name which is a nice compromise of the two. My personal order of preference is Destiny, then Alpha, then Classic.

Excellent battle report! And digging the paint jobs, but that Caesar figure is well... something.. I really like this supply line mission, looking at incorporating it into my next my groups next mission. On a side note, where does DFA acquire their battle mats? I'm looking to upgrade!

Yo Aaron, question about your plasma cannon rules for destiny. I noted you have them doing one crit chance to vehicles on a hit. Considering they do 3d6 damage to a vehicle on a hit in classic is your current implementation not a bit lack luster?

Not a huge fan of destiny as a rpg... however using it as a campaign system for btech could be fun. Gives pilots more personality. However as a rpg with a group of players I am not impressed. Reminded me of shadowrun anarchy, which was 🗑. Your milage may varie.

Hey guys btech player since it was battle droids...with some solid breaks on there. What system are you using? It's not alpha cause you roll hit location. It's not classic cause you don't have sheets with pips and tons of criticals...not to mention damage is off for the weapons. I see destiny listed but isn't that just a rpg?

There is a mech combat system buried in Destiny… we took it, blended it with Alpha Strike and you get a nice compromise between the two systems.

I Noticed Immediately upon seeing the map that the terrain features are crisp, weird since my video still reads 1080p@60 instead of 2.5K. Supersampling?

Idk. I have done some color correction magic independent of the res bump. This one I filmed in 2.7 and rendered in 1080 before uploading. Next one I will go back to 1080/60 and add correction and we can see what that looks like. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Watching the Hellspawn get destroyed in a single volley is what I don't like about the TIC system in this game. I think it would have survived a typical volley from a dual gauss Vulture. I've been trying to like Destiny's but I just don't think it is for me.

Pros and cons. It’s brutal, but the same could happen in Classic (30 points is a whallop). We set the TIC max to 10 points of damage, but you could go lower if you wanted. The reality is the 7D does not pack a ton of armor.
