Clan Jade Falcon has landed on Tukayyid and spread across the Southern Prezno Plains, intent on being the first of their clan brethren to achieve their objectives. But the planet itself rebels. Lightning storms savage the open ground forcing the Falcons into unfavorable attack vectors, and heavy rain and wind hampered their movement. Meanwhile, the 2nd Army lies in wait. In the heart of the storms, the Seventy Seventh White Monsters dig in, preparing a series of nefarious traps for the arrogant Falcon attackers. It can be rough when you feel like you’re fighting your own dice as much as your opponent. Kudos to everyone for being good sports. As a viewer it was a lot of fun because it was so dramatic. Those ComStar mechs just look great too. I’ve really enjoyed both Tukayyid battle reports so hopefully there will be more down the line. Great video guys.

Wow, this battle report was so much fun! I was laughing out loud the whole time and felt like I was there with you. When Thom dropped the marker and just went with it with a straight face I was rolling, and the cursing recovery had me falling off the couch. And those dice rolls were epic - I winced in anticipation every time the UAC20 shots were rolled!

Great game guys, but tough on the clans. Aaron, here's a batch I dare you to refuse: Battalytics, clan star versus Comstar level 2. Is player just marches up to the clans, clans try and play as smart as the system allows Let's see what the results say. What matters more, slabs of armour and standard engines, or better weapons, higher tmm, and leaner tonnage?

The headcam (capcam?) is fun, the game felt a lot more personal. Like actually being at the table with you guys with the constant view of Tom. But I missed the up close and personal shots from the battlefield a bit. Anyway, superb BatRep once again Battletech:Destiny rocks!

@@DeathfromAboveWargaming Sorry I wasn't clear, I meant visual noise. Usually your footage is really clear aside from the shots of the rotating minis. The top down view is fine and the close in pans at the start are fine as well, but the hat footage has lots of noise. It's not just the movement though, because the stationary shot from the edge of the table is also noisy (though not as bad). The grass patterns on the mat look like they are squirming. Looks like you've got plenty of light though. Could also just be that the youtube compression couldn't deal with that mat

Interesting! I will watch on YT and check it out. I did try some new things in terms of color correction and sharpening the clips - I wonder if that threw it for a loop. I am going to shoot the next one at 2.7k and 30fps. I’ve read some things that indicate higher fps isnt always “better” - supposedly 30fps gets more light per frame which will help with the clarity. Or so I am told. Never trust ComStar.

Ok, so been looking forward to this one for the headcam. Honestly, I like the perspective, but the camera seems to have some artifacting when you move too much or suddenly which is a little distracting.

That is a good question. I’m using a GoPro Hero 7 Black. Not the NEWEST but it’s pretty modern, has image stabilization and all that… I am sure something is better for the right price 😁

The Comstar mech deployment reflects the situation in book. Comstar prepared under ground hides and jumped out to ambush.

I agree, I think Clan mech points are weighted not in their favor based on normal points values for both pilots and mechs. It is like a double hit. However, playing Alpha Strike Tukayyid campaign, I think the campaign rules provide better parity for the Clans with pilots and mechs and the group likes the randomness of mechs rolls that can be taken based on the force build. We did expand the force build roster to include both a greater variety of period mechs for both sides based on availability of Wave 1 mechs. All in all, we have seen much closer games between Clans and Comstar vs. previously based just on points. Interestingly, the Clans are pulling out minor victories, but Comstar has been in almost every fight and the Clans are running their war chest very low. We have even seen the occasional Clan Assault mech make it on which normally based on equal points almost would never happen before.

I like the idea of Destiny blending Classic BT and Alpha Strike but just can't get behind it. Your initiative system seems better but I just don't like Edge, all weapons in a TIC being destroyed instead of damage being reduced and determining missile damage seems clunky.

Well its either going to be too granular or too abstract! In AS you lose a point of damage which could represent a few MLAS or a single big gun. Missiles aren’t great but we are trying to stick to RAW there. Overall Id say give it a try!

Hi, thank you for posting these videos. I’m a classic player from the 80s who has recently converted over to alpha strike. I’ve watched half a dozen of your battle reports so far, now and feel like I’m am developing and addiction!! One question, what do you use to do the radio chat at the start of all your battles? I am thinking that would be a great tool maybe to run and RPG?

I record in Audacity and use eq filters in the video editing software. Anything that has an equalizer you can play with (including Audacity) can get you this effect!

I hear what you’re saying, but its a trade off between what you’re seeing and a 4 hour video. The majority of viewers don’t want to sit through something that long. The overhead recaps are a good compromise.

How is ammo handled in Destiny? Ammo based weapons should have limited shots.

It’s not outside of potential crits 🙂 90% of the weapons in this game wont run out of ammo, tracking it is one of the things Destiny removes.

It’s tough. I prefer both over Classic… AS is still faster and there is just something about being able to throw 12 units on the table and finishing in a couple hours. Destiny has the flavor that AS lacks though, and that is also pretty cool… but for fast big games AS is still king. So its a tie for me!

We have a card builder that does it for you - just import megamek mech files and you are good to rock. Doing it by hand isnt terribly difficult though.
