Information on CLANNAD (Source: Wikipedia):
Clannad (stylized as CLANNAD) is a Japanese visual novel developed by Key.
The story follows the life of Tomoya Okazaki, from adolescence to adulthood. As an average high school student, he meets many people in his last year at school, including five girls whose individual problems he helps resolve, and his life is further detailed after graduating from high school. The gameplay of Clannad follows a plot that branches into different scenarios based on various courses of interaction by the player character. The game was ranked as the best-selling PC game sold in Japan for the time of its release, and charted in the national top 50 several more times afterwards. Key went on to produce an adult spin-off titled Tomoyo After: It's a Wonderful Life in November 2005, which expanded on the scenario of Tomoyo Sakagami, one of the five heroines from Clannad.
On March 15, 2007, the Japanese television station BS-i announced a Clannad anime series via a short 30-second teaser trailer that was featured at the end of the final episode of the second Kanon anime series. Clannad is produced by Kyoto Animation, directed by Tatsuya Ishihara, and written by Fumihiko Shimo, who also worked on other adaptations of Key's visual novels Air and Kanon.
After the ending of the 23rd episode of the first Clannad anime series, a 15-second teaser trailer aired promoting a second season titled Clannad After Story. The anime is again animated by Kyoto Animation, and animates the After Story arc from the visual novel, which is a continuation of Nagisa's story, into 24 episodes. The same staff and cast from the first anime were used and the series broadcast in Japan between October 3, 2008 and March 26, 2009. Of the 24 episodes, 22 are regular episodes, the 23rd is an extra episode, and the last episode is a summary episode showcasing highlights from the series.
Clannad's story revolves around Tomoya Okazaki, a third year high school student who dislikes his life. Tomoya's mother (Atsuko) died when Tomoya was young, leaving his father (Naoyuki) to raise him. After the accident, Tomoya's father turned to alcohol and gambling, and had frequent fights with his son. One day, Naoyuki, while arguing with his son, slammed Tomoya against the window, dislocating Tomoya's shoulder. This injury prevents Tomoya from playing on the basketball team, and causes him to distance himself from others. Ever since then, his father has treated Tomoya nicely, but distantly, as if Tomoya and he were strangers rather than a family. This hurts Tomoya more than his previous relationship with his father, and the awkwardness of returning home leads Tomoya constantly to stay out all night. Thus his delinquent life begins. Tomoya's good friend Youhei Sunohara, who was thrown out of the soccer club over a dispute with his seniors, is also a delinquent and often hangs out in his dorm room with Tomoya doing nothing much.
The story opens on Monday April 14, 2003 at the beginning of the school year, when Tomoya meets Nagisa Furukawa, a soft-spoken girl who is one year older than he is but is repeating her last year in high school due to being sick much of the previous year. Her goal is to join the drama club which she was unable to do due to her sickness, but they find that the drama club was disbanded after the few remaining members graduated. Since Tomoya has a lot of time to kill, he helps Nagisa in reforming the drama club. During this period, Tomoya meets and hangs out with several other girls whom he gets to know well and help with their individual problems.

Clannad means so much to me. Like so many others during the pandemic, I wanted to fill a hole in my heart, so about two years ago, I decided to get into anime. Clannad was one of the first shows that I watched and still, I vividly remember bawling my eyes out to it. It really has changed my perspective on bonds we form with others. From the amazing storytelling, characters who feel like genuine people - all interwoven perfectly with eachother. Every time I see a scene from this show, I get emotionally overwhelmed - a weird mix of nostalgia and sadness, knowing the journey the show depicts. I really wish I could re-watch the series, but somehow just can't bring myself to do it, even though it's surely the best anime I have seen to date. Not a single piece of media has ever done that to me since and I tip my hat to that. Maybe in a few years time, I'll be able to watch this piece of art again with someone dear to me.

Like how you did After Story justice in its respective video, you really did the KyouVA justice in this one. I already really liked Kyou to the point that she's my second favorite right after Nagisa, so her OVA made me appreciate her more. Meanwhile your video in turn made me appreciate her OVA more lol

Nothing can compare to the emotions that clannad made me feel, the main show and after story, they in themself are near perfect, without actually being perfect, and the 2 special episodes, for kyou and tomoyo, they showed what could have been, and that achieving what you want, is not as easy as it may look

Can't believe that on the third video on Clannad when i was sure that my emotions were settled about it, they still came to surface and made me feel things. Anyways wonder if you'll ever play the visual novel of it and do another analysis on it or just compare both the anime and the source material xD

I started watching Anime during the first lockdown to try and feel something other then anger at the world. I deliberately chose emotional anime's but by the Gods i didn't know the absolute rollercoaster i was in for. Anohana, Your Lie in April, A Silent Voice, Violet Evergarden, Plastic Memories, Kanon, Air, Angel Beats and others. Of all of them, Clannad utterly destroyed me. Even a single image from it causes me to break down and as much as i enjoy your content i simply can't watch this video. I'll give it a thumbs up though :)

Bro, thanks a lot for your videos I'd love you to talk about really underground anime, you do amazingly good structured reviews and interpretations. Thanks a lot Talking about this video, the ending of this episode is just beautiful. How she sweetly embraces him at the end just talking about the weather... I don't know, is just beautiful to me.

Your dialogue are too rigid. You are speaking off a script, I don't feel like you're talking/sharing your information, it's like you're reading off a script/reading/throwing forced information the viewer. Your speech pattern is the same as someone who is trying hard to put emotions into his voice; instead, you should speak your mind, speak your thoughts because or else your videos will feel natural. This is a tip that totalbiscuit passed on to youtubers.
