Information about VIOLET EVERGARDEN (Source: Wikipedia):
Violet Evergarden is a Japanese light novel series written by Kana Akatsuki and illustrated by Akiko Takase. It won the grand prize in the fifth Kyoto Animation Award's novel category in 2014, the first ever work to win a grand prize in any of the three categories (novel, scenario, and manga).[3] Kyoto Animation published the first light novel on December 25, 2015, under their KA Esuma Bunko imprint.
A 13-episode anime television series adaptation by Kyoto Animation aired between January and April 2018 with several advance screenings taking place in 2017. The series was awarded Best Animation at the 2019 Crunchyroll Anime Awards.[5] An original video animation episode was released in July 2018, and a spin-off film premiered in Japan in September 2019. A second anime film, Violet Evergarden: The Movie, was released on September 18, 2020.
The story revolves around Auto Memory Dolls: people initially employed by a scientist named Dr. Orland to assist his blind wife Mollie in writing her novels, and later hired by other people who needed their services. In the present time, the term refers to the industry of writing for others. The story follows Violet Evergarden's journey of reintegrating back into society after the war is over and her search for her life's purpose now that she is no longer a soldier in order to understand the last words her mentor and guardian, Major Gilbert, had told her: "I love you."

The moment the Movie broke my heart completely, was when I saw Violets red Hair ribbon tied on the tree, and I realized that she will never be forgotten by the people, even if it was almost 100 years ago. (I know it wasn't exactly 100 years ago, but something like that)

I did love how they do end up together in the end all thanks to love on a paper. How that girl is a true wonder. And since the relationships in the book and the show are supposed to be the same, Violet and Gilbert not only get together, but they marry as well as have a family together. Such a heartwarming story.

This series made me realize, how meaningful words and communication are for us as people, regardless of their means or vehicle that are used to convey them. The movie also demonstrated a period of change for Kyoto Animation themselves, and how they are thankful for the audience to allow them to keep following their passion to create media that manages to convey the feelings of their creation. For that I have to say, I am thankful for Violet evergarden, for realizing the importance of human emotion through the means of communication we have, I am thankful for the work that Kyoto Animation has done to bring this to our screens, and last but not least, I'm thankful for you for making this astonishing essay on what is one of my favorite pieces of fiction.

Written history made us, modern human, understand the past, the history, the ideologies, prophecy, so on. Sometimes we often wrote by exaggerated, so the readers would really understand what does really meant by our ideas in our writing. Violet Evergarden story is a representation of humanity biggest invention : writing culture, which impacted in our human civilization till this day. Just as simple become a useful doll, helped peoples surround to express their feeling nor ideas, and become a legend itself in the future. We, as the audience, become more understand how powerful the writing is. Because its transcend human perception, space, and time itself. The reading also a paramount of importance, cuz without that ability, we never be a good writer. Even without human ingenuity for inventing language, nature will speak by itself. The layers of bark, soil layers, radiocarbons, bones, and even stars in the skies. Letter in ink might be just a medium of writing, later evolve to be in digital world. But we evolve to understand, there are languages beyond our current understanding, still waiting to be found. Even a blank paper itself is a form of communication.

I just finished every single second of Violet Evergarden that I could find. As a person seeing over 40 anime I can confidently say this is the best anime I have ever seen. Even though there were a lot of themes that I could not relate to, I still found so many moments that made me extremely emotional and were incredible in every way. If this truly is the end of the show and series I am truly saddened by that but I am still going to be grateful that such an amazing series has been brought to life. Thank you Kana Akatsuki and Kyoto animation for making this masterpiece that will forever be carved and molded into my heart forever. An anime experience I know for sure nothing else will come close to as good as this.

This series, in my opinion, has two main themes: there is an obvious one, which is what is the true meaning of love, in all its extension (something every episode conveys in a so brilliiant and touching way), but there is also a second one, which is what to be a human person is like, and how it is constructed, starting from such an early devastating experience of being a kid soldier who has taking so many lives. She struggles to understand love, but also to (re)construct herself as a person. I think this is why this show is so impactful, asides from the sheer beauty of the animation, music and script all this is given to us. It's also a shame Occident movie makes seems to be currently unable or interested in these kind of stories. Congratulations for your analysis and greetings from Spain.

To clarify what I meant that one major theme in the plot is the construction of a human person. recall that the older brother (Dittfried) on the Boungainvillian family from the beginning despises her, and deprived of humanity, offers her to his younger brother, who in fact uses her, but also respects and on his own way, raises her. After they take distinct paths, she has to figure out on her own not only no understand the true meaning of love, but to construct herself as a human being with proper aspirations and freedom. Eventually, she was forgiven by the mother of the two brothers, and Violet had to confront Dittfried in order to proclaim she is no longer a tool, but a true person; only during the final movie, she owns the respect of Dittfried, which to me is a very touching arch for this character. All of this is for me of the utmost importance for the appreciation on what the story is really about, IMHO.

@@byrond.garcia7406 I agree; at the series, he only appeared two or three times, and at the beginning shows contempt to her, also blaming her not having protected well enough his younger brother. At the end of the serires, at least he shows her the respect she really deserves, but only gets to truly appreciate her during the last movie. Violet struggles to understand love, and while doing so, she also discovers her humanity. The two brothers also find their human sense of self, through different paths. All this is very well treated and very moving, truly.

Hated that Gilbert was still alive. For me, the entire narrative was about Violet becoming human and being able to live without him. All of her character development throughout the series was undone by having her still unable to function without him.

I totally understand that sentiment. I also wasn’t too fond of it myself from a narrative point of view, but the execution of the film and its underlying themes with communication were the aspects that really resonated with me.

@lyricvfx "she LITERALLY abandoned everyone of her friends and left with Gilbert and literally never contacted any of them ever again" - you haven't watched the movie properly. She left the CH Postal Company in Leiden, but she STILL WAS WORKING AS A DOLL ON THAT ISLAND (it is literally said at the end of the movie that the island hold the record of the most letters sent per resident). She was still working as a doll on the island, so she was "independent", she wasn't a leech. She did NOT abandon everyone - I am sure she did some travelling to Leiden and her friends did the same to the island (I have even seen some art with all her friends having a party together with Violet and Gilbert on the island, and it was said that was canonical).

I absolutely love that scene, violet out in the downpour while Gilbert staying trapped inside a house ignited by flame, like he's on fire the same way violet was but for different reasons in contrast to the dark cold rain violets drenched in as she's letting out her vulnerabilities and emotions just to get rejected at each attempt. None of this is pointed out but when you pay attention the scenes images themselves can tell a picture of their own to emphasize or or contrast what's being said, this, this is why I love animation

One of my favorite things about this movie was the portrayal of time and technology, as someone from the early 2000s usually seen as the turning point for the internet and a communication boom that being cell phones and, having lived young seeing the evolution from dial ups to flip phones to what we have now, seeing how readily available the internet is though still being early enough to have experienced those local connections when these things weren't prevalent. Seeing the major effect just the invention of the phone is for their entire world and business reminded me how I felt and what I went through, everything used to be a very local and proud community and these days everyone just stays home because they can, they don't have to go anywhere to communicate anymore and as sad as that is it's also became a very important aspect to everyone and has undoubtedly saved many lines wether it be a prevention hot line, a friend or anything else really. So even though everything feels more alone than ever for me due to this technology that's really not the case as were all more connected than ever, I guess it just lacks that more personal touch 9 times out of 10 that's really makes a moment and a word memorable. Anyway I guess that should be enough of my rambling, I suppose this has been going on long enough

I love almost every aspect of this film. I just can’t reconcile a romance between Violet and the man who was her father figure for the significant majority of their relationship. Overall yes the movie was satisfying. But still, I think it would have been better if they made this into a second season because it doesn't feel like a movie but three-story arcs being told. The one with Daisy, the sick boy, and finally Violet. A second season would have flushed out these arcs better resulting in a better experience.
