I have a suggestion to youth. Bookmark this video and watch it again after 1 year, 2 years, 3 years etc (may be after getting married, after having child, after spending good amount on house purchase, good amount for child ) Every time you may get a fresh perspective. Most of the times person who is giving money know that he is being fooled but didn't know how to deal with this and communicate to family.

About 40 yrs ago, my father bought a bigger flat so that our then joint-family could have more space and a front-facing home, something he felt that his parents and siblings deserved. He arranged money from relatives and paid them back in a few years' time. One big blunder he made was, paying the money for buying the flat and putting his younger brother's name on it instead of his own, thinking that it was a common family asset and his younger brother was not doing very well. He supported them like a father to stand on their own feet, sometimes even taking loans on behalf of the brothers to help start small businesses. 40 yrs later it was decided that the flat will be sold as each of the brothers had made their lives and their kids were also working now. However, now my father had to share the money received from the sale of the house. My uncles claimed that they paid some unrealistic amounts to my father every month so they too deserved a share in the property. My father lived with his maternal uncle till he completed his education and hence was not the most fav child of my grandparents, and refused to support my father. So in the end, my father just got 40% for a flat that he paid for fully. He struggled through the years to pay off the money he borrowed, sometimes even selling my mom's jewelry. Now he does not want to even look at the faces of his brothers.

Correct....its ok to become a villain for relatives and friends who are only there with you for money....because even after borrowing and when u ask for your money ( w/O interest) they will blame you that you are so cheap...

Problem is not losing money. I am more concerned that our morals values are decreasing day by day 😢

I gave about 30 k to my GF to buy a two wheeler. After a month I asked her my money back. Eventually she gave but the relationship was about to end. So I thought it's all my hard earned money and took back every thing i have spent on her. Be it on food, shopping and trips. Now I got my money back and she'll not bother me anymore. I have a peaceful life now. Planning to buy health and term insurance for my family.

These lessons should be taught in schools compulsory

i remember both couples working with good salary and asking me for a loan without interest to buy a plot while myself being a single income with a balanced spending . after a lot of check facts i rejected the reason being they needed money for taking asset and not a do or die case

I never got back the money from friends and relatives.now whatever situation arises I will not lend. I may give them as help to buy grosseries

Relations are almost always dead once money transaction happens and there is no accountability.

The worst case is they ask for money for emergency, you lend and you hear they are going on holiday. The worst ghatiya species that can ever exist.

thats true sir ... i have tata nano but my wealth is 1.5 crore and have 50k fix income .. all this happend after reading rich dad poor dad .....and investing and trading in stock market since 2015

excellent clarity with examples, awesome sir, I am actually the one who started with negative because of this showbaazi, struggled a lot to become positive surplus after 15 years. All this emotional blackmail actually hits u badly in the long run.

As a family, we have gone and going through almost all the examples so far. As the youngest, I went through all the persuasion, cajoling, threatening and requesting favors for irresponsible relatives and ended up crying. However, I am laughing 😀now, listening to you. We need to abandon American/western materialism and consumption and get back to living the life of our ancestors with a modern outlook.

My own brother doing nothing asking money n support from me...he has kids n living his life from my mother pension, to test when I said divide the property he strictly refused...how clever 😮 now we are not in good terms

Another thing I try to adopt is that if I borrow anything on an urgent basis, I endeavor to return the same with the same urgency once my need is fulfilled.

Some relatives approach for signature of guarantee and the loan will never be repaid.They request you to do one signature simply but nothing else.That is a very big trap.

Its very true and i faced the same problem. I have been emotionally a victim card of my own relatives. My sacrifices nobody cares. The day i refuse to give money to my relatives i have experienced so much pain and bitterness and now i have cut such people in my life and believe me i have gained so much happiness and enjoying myself.

Good idea not give money. They never return. I gave money to One of friend after 3 month never gave back. And he kept pushing on. Finally he gave back after long time .Just to make him understand I asked him money and did the same to him kept pushing around the date . And Finally gave back the money asking one question how does it feel now. Best thing what u can do while saying no is “come I will take u for lunch it’s on me. But I don’t have money to lend u”

My in laws have raised my brother in law in such a way to ask money from older brother and never return back.
