Samoan Comedian (Chief Sielu) "Coconut Cracking" - Polynesian Cultural Center (from long version)

Жыл бұрынThis is the "Coconut Cracking Demo" segment from my hi-8 recording and experience of the first "Samoan Comedian" in the summer of 1995 at the Polynesian Cultural Center located in Laie, Oahu, Hawaii.
For more information on Chief Sielu and his remarkable story, look for him on Wikipedia. I should also add that he starred in a "short" 20 minute movie aptly entitled "Chief" that was shown at the Sundance festival and is now available on a popular streaming service that rhymes with "dime."

Since I know very little Japanese, I had my nephew who lives in Japan (he both speaks and writes fluently in Japanese) translate the Japanese portions of this video. The word ikki means “drink it in one shot.” Notice that when the Chief gave the Japanese lady more coconut water, she drank it in one gulp. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
