They are clashing but they are not really trying to seriously hurt each other. They both want to stay healthy, which is very smart and cool.

@@lonelydog4536 Like steam ships and outhouses? It is the "better mousetrap" idea, Doggy. If we were still reliant on horses for "horsepower" you be whining about the poor horses having to work for a living rather than loafing in pastures and barns all day long, being fed and cared for.

They are feral livestock. No different than feral hogs and feral cats. They are running loose, are not native to the environment on this continent and they should all be removed. They are not wild animals like elk, moose, deer, bison or antelope. They are simply ownerless domestic animals. If you want to get technical you could say the BLM owns them and manages their numbers. And as far as "the government don't want them", the government pays big money every year to keep thousands of them in corrals. It is the public that doesn't want them. They are pretty much all up for grabs for a few bucks, but horse owners can't be bothered. So don't blame Washington for this when horse people wash their hands of them.
@lonelydog4536
@lonelydog4536 3 жыл бұрын
@@DoubleDogDare54 if you want to get even more technical the first modern horses actually originated in North America so no, they are not feral in this case, and where they are it is us humans to blame not them. The only reason they become like pests (like kangaroos here in Australia) is because they are a more successful species than other ungulates but that is natures way and nothing you can do about that
@DoubleDogDare54
@DoubleDogDare54 3 жыл бұрын
@@lonelydog4536 Yeah, well, those "technical horses" died out thousands of years ago because they were not a successful species. Darwin eliminated them. They were different from the modern domestic horse. Not the same critter. The critter running loose these days is a domestic animal, not a true wild animal. Feral horses are no different than feral hogs, cats, stray dogs and the like. And simply because they are "successful" is not an excuse for allowing them to run feral. Pythons, iguanas, starlings, murder hornets, africanized honey bees and other pests are also "successful species", but they don't belong here and every one of them killed is a good thing. Domestic horses weren't here a few hundred years ago and shouldn't be living feral anywhere in this country. They should be removed as an invasive species. And you have the same problem in Australia with the brumbies - feral domestic horses, same as your feral cattle, rabbits, cats, dogs, goats and so forth. They are no more native to Australia than the rest of of the animals I listed. Kangaroos ARE a native species. Big difference. Don't mix them up. As far as I am concerned, if the Pretty Pony Club wants feral domestic horses viewed as wild animals native to America, the best way to control their numbers is a hunting season every fall same as with other wild ungulates. Lots of meat on a horse. A lot more than on any deer. A half ton of lean, flavorful organic meat in the freezer would be a big attraction for a lot of people. Plug the plugs, eat them, numbers would be held down and problem solved.

@phibber
@phibber 5 жыл бұрын
one way is to put hay and water out in the range where the horses are, and the second time ,you put a piece of fence, and everytime you replenish the hay and water, you add aNOTHER PIECE OF FENCE TILL THE CORRALL IS COMPLETE AND LAST YOU PUT ON AN OVERHEAD GATE WHICH FALLS DOWN INTO PLACE WHEN YOUR HORSE ENTERS THE CORRAL FOR MORE FEED. ooops sorry for cap lock not shouting sorry.

DoubleDogDare54 Ok double Dog dare you just train yourself a wild Stallion and cage him up. What have you done broken his spirt and love of life to roam free where he was born. Most of all taken away his right to have a heard of Mares which is their job. You do this and a Stallion will destroy his stall. You just killed his heart and drive. If you want a horse get a pasture with a friend and let them be horses.

@tommurphree5630
@tommurphree5630 2 жыл бұрын
Darn thing won't let me print properly . If a herbivore overpopulates , it causes an imbalance in the ecosystem . Plants become rare that other animals depend on . A food chain is disrupted , which can cause the whole system to collapse . Populations of herbivores are usually kept in balance by predators . But, humans always foul up ecosystems because there is no predator to keep them in balance . So, since there are too many humans , there are not enough animal predators to keep the population of horses in check . ( people love to kill mountain lions and bears ) So , that leaves us to control horse populations . The same problem exists with deer . The Spanish brought horses . There were none here before they came , except in prehistoric times , if my foggy recollection is correct .

Horses originated in America; they colonised the 'Old World' from there, and then went extinct in the Americas together with most of the megafauna around the time humans invaded the continent. Ask yourself who is the real invasive species.
