Insurance companies are using NLP to comb through SOAP notes to extract key words and phrases to maximize billings. That's what they are doing. I am a little disappointed about not hearing more about how Fintech and AI can help reduce the cost of health care by disrupting the health insurance industry. And I am concerned about insurance companies dictating your insurance rate by monitoring your driving, the insurance companies have incredible amount of insights into how you drive. They will use that insight to determine your risk level. Even if you don't have accidents, they can deem you as a risky driver because you step on the gas too aggressively or turn the corner too fast. It'll be a different version of police state. If you refuse to have the telematics in your car, they will refuse to underwrite your auto insurance policy. This is going to be a huge concern.

Trying to align motivations towards fundamental societal priorities as well as an individual perspective is really what your two concerns are about. Gary I believe is close to government and has the ears of those making policy, so you’ve located your concerns well. To your first concern, insurance companies should be motivated to reduce health care cost because they are profit motivated. Two opportunities with sickness disability and health insurance is how the cover offered accurately captures condition which needs remediation, and secondly societal determination of what conditions societies standards dictate attention of regulators is warranted because it’s not right to leave sufferers unassisted (You and I are free to make any condition require one of us to pay, but insurance plays a fairness role in putting right someone damaged where it’s just not right those who aren’t don’t assist. Getting that sorted well means public policy can support long term investment that will assure more certainly that basic societal objective). Accurately capturing condition is a topic you could focus on. What are the systems of classification. What data indicates the condition accurately (people can do good and bad, fraud is a big issue). That is, are you dead or alive is a question that can be answered with certainty. Am I traumatised is not so easy. Gary’ lectures have previously mentioned that where a term in an agreement is both unlikely and not material leaving the term of the agreement somewhat general and vague is saying we will use the services of the court to decide. Why waste time haggling further about it. Memorise that one. If I am debilitated and can’t work that is material, I want the support offered me under my insurance guaranteed, I want certainty. So there’s an opportunity. Because if we can get that accurate the profit motive and competitive environment will hunt lowest cost which will pull in those things you identify as part of that. And it has the benefit of solving your concern as well as a bunch of other things.
