Elegant, plush and quintessentially British, introducing the MG Magnette. Nicknamed the ‘Baby Jag’ due to its design and the creature comforts it offered, all at an affordable price, the Magnette was very popular and a common sight not only on British roads but also on our roads.
With its trusty B-Series engine, independent front suspension and monocoque body (the first MG to have one) the Magnette is no slouch and is definitely an engaging drive. This particular car is not a garage queen by any stretch of the imagination and is regularly driven on long journey’s and is very much at home in the hills.

WOW! I always love this channel's presentations! It's a pleasure to see a Magnette getting regular use by a relatively young person (compared to me certainly!). I love the unique styling inside and out. The gauges alone are works of art, not to mention that gogeous wood and various bakelite components. Ceylon's island location would suggest that cars are expensive to import, and probably difficult to export worn out cars. To me, it would make sense that there are many treasures that have been parked and sitting just waiting for restoration, or ones like this that are quite nice in regular use, and have gone through a restoration already to get the vehicle up to top standard. This channel always provides such a wide assortment of interesting vehicles, shares a cultural experience of owners in Ceylon, and simply unites us all in the "motorhead" world. Cars are the International languge for many of us! I'd love a Magnette here in the US! Thanks for sharing this, The Classic Car Club of Ceylon.
